Teal Feather’s Story

Teal Feather was born of my desire to do higher quality work with fewer clients. After working in community mental health and in private practice taking insurance, I dreamed of being able to work without constraints on anything my clients wanted to work on and with no time limits. And truthfully, I also wanted to get paid what my services are worth.

Some people ask about the name Teal Feather. Teal is my favorite color (and I do love color), and Feather is a nod to my Native American heritage as I am a member of the Chickasaw tribe. I wanted the name of my business to be personal and meaningful to me.

My approach is pretty direct and practical. I want to help you work on your goals, not goals that I might choose for you. I am told I’m pretty good at holding clients accountable for making changes, which many clients want, but I also understand how hard it can be to make changes in your life.

Many clients want someone who has experienced some of the same things they are experiencing, or at least someone with plenty of life experience. I’ve had many experiences in my life including with divorce, remarriage, single parenting, and substance use and mental health issues in the family, as well as being a military veteran. I have worked hard to make positive changes in my own life and I want to help others have the success I have had.
