As a business owner, you’re told not to comment, not take sides when it comes to politics and it’s bad for business. But wholeheartedly, forget that.

This feels deeply personal. There’s a quiet ache that comes with it, watching policies and rhetoric affect people who look like me, love like me, and live like me.

Not knowing if I, my family, my friends, their loved ones will be targeted next. For the color of our skin, speaking our native language, being different. It comes with so many different emotions. Fear, anger, sadness, disappointment, disbelief, anxiety, depression, and a deep need to protect my loved ones and community.

Being of Mexican descent right now feels heavy, being of any Hispanic and all other ethnicities right now feels heavy… like, carrying pride in one hand and fear in the other. I hold onto hope that compassion, humanity, and love will lead us forward.

I stand with my brown roots, rooted in resilience, love, a history that refuses to be erased. 🤎
