🩵🎗️This September, during Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, Lakeside Doctors want to empower you with the facts that could save lives.
While ovarian cancer is rare, it is often detected late—making it the leading cause of gynecologic cancer deaths in the U.S. That’s why knowing the symptoms is so important.
👉 Contact your OB-GYN if you experience any of these for more than 12 days a month:
• Persistent bloating or increased abdominal size
• Pelvic or abdominal pain
• Difficulty eating or feeling full quickly
• Urinary changes (frequency or urgency)
• Vaginal bleeding after menopause or changes in bowel habits
Early diagnosis can make all the difference.

August is National Breastfeeding Month! 🍼
Breastfeeding supports your baby’s health and strengthens your own — but it’s not always easy.
From expert lactation help to judgment-free support, Lakeside is here for every step of your journey. Whether you breastfeed, bottle-feed or do both, what matters most is that you and your baby feel supported.
Meet Dr. Susan Chambers — one of the founding physicians of Lakeside Women’s Hospital and a true cornerstone of women’s health in Oklahoma City.
Since delivering the very first baby at Lakeside in 1997, Dr. Chambers has cared for generations of patients over her 30+-year medical career, delivering more than 8,000 babies! 👶💕
“One of the greatest joys of being an OB/GYN is caring for patients year after year, experiencing their joys and pains, and delivering generations of wonderful people,” she says.
While she no longer delivers babies, Dr. Chambers remains passionate about gynecologic surgery, robotic surgery and overall women’s health. She’s currently pursuing a certification in Lifestyle Medicine to better support long-term wellness.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Chambers is a dedicated community leader. In 2024, she became Chair of the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum as the city marked the 30th anniversary of the bombing. She also serves on the board of the Oklahoma City Repertory Theater and gives her time to St. Luke’s Methodist Church and World Neighbors, through which she has traveled to nearly a dozen countries including Indonesia, Kenya, India and Haiti.
Dr. Chambers is deeply rooted in our community, and we’re honored to have her legacy of leadership at Lakeside. 💖
