🤰☀️ Summer is here, and with it comes the heat! If you're pregnant, staying safe and comfortable in the summer warmth is extra important. Pregnant bodies work harder to regulate temperature, making you more susceptible to heat-related issues like dehydration and heat exhaustion.

Here are some quick tips to beat the heat this summer:

💧 Drink up! Water, water, water.
👚 Dress smart: Loose-fitting, light-colored clothing.
🏠 Stay indoors during peak heat.
🛌 Rest often in cool environments.
🥵 Know the signs of heat exhaustion (dizziness, nausea, excessive sweating).

Prioritize your well-being this summer!

July is Cord Blood Awareness Month. Did you know the stem cells found in your baby's cord blood collected from the umbilical cord and placenta after birth, contains valuable stem cells that can save lives?

These powerful stem cells treat over 80 life-threatening diseases like leukemia and sickle cell anemia. The collection process is safe for both mother and baby, with options to donate for free or bank for future use with a cord blood bank.

Interested in collecting your baby's cord blood? Be sure to discuss it with your women's health care provider before your delivery date so you can make an informed choice!

Did you know nearly everyone unvaccinated against HPV will get it? This virus is linked to six types of cancers, not just cervical cancer. HPV causes approximately 37,800 cancer cases in the U.S. each year. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)

The good news? The safe & effective HPV vaccine prevents about 90% of these cancers. It's recommended for kids at 11-12 (or as early as 9) for best protection.

Talk to your doctor about the HPV vaccine for your family!

Ladies, let’s talk about something important—your colon health. 💬

Colonoscopies are one of the most effective ways to catch problems early, including bleeding or signs of colon cancer. Many cases of colon cancer actually begin as small, harmless polyps—but regular screenings can catch and remove them before they become serious.

The American Cancer Society recommends starting screenings at age 45. Your OB-GYN can help you choose the best screening option for you.

Taking care of your whole health includes your colon—don’t put it off! 💪

This Fibroid Awareness Month, we're shining a light on a condition that's common but often goes undiagnosed: Fibroids

These noncancerous growths can affect many women of reproductive age. Some women might not even know they have them, while others experience symptoms like:

✔️ Heavy menstrual bleeding
✔️ Frequent urination
✔️ Constipation
✔️ Discomfort during in*******se
✔️ Pelvic pain and pressure

If any of these sound familiar, it's a good idea to talk to your women's health provider. They can help determine if fibroids could be the cause and what the best treatment options are for you.

Dr. Margaret Hall has been a trusted member of the Lakeside team since 2006. With 27 years of experience in obstetrics and gynecology, she has a special focus on minimally invasive surgery—including advanced robotic, laparoscopic and hysteroscopic techniques.

Considering a hysterectomy? You may have more options than you think.

While open abdominal hysterectomies are still common, many women are great candidates for robotic-assisted surgery—a gentler, more precise option with benefits like:
✅ Smaller incisions and less scarring
✅ Less pain and blood loss
✅ Lower risk of infection
✅ Shorter hospital stays
✅ Faster recovery and return to daily life

If you’re pregnant, you may be hearing a lot about vaccines. It’s normal to have questions.

Vaccines are safe for both of you, and have been given to millions of pregnant people for over 50 years. In fact, vaccination is one of the most important things that you can do to protect your health and your baby’s health.

When you get vaccines during pregnancy, you’re helping yourself and your baby stay as healthy as possible - protecting your baby during the first few months of life until they can be vaccinated.👶✨

Be sure to ask your health care provider which vaccines are right for you.
