Our Story

The focus of my practice is trauma. It is my belief that most trauma cannot be effectively processed by talk therapy alone. Trauma is experienced in the primitive brain where the flight, fight or freeze response is triggered. Thought is not involved in this system, nor can or should it be. If the trauma remains unprocessed, it can be triggered by any number of things, i.e., a smell, color, thought, TV show, etc. Triggering can then result in the flight, fight or freeze response when there is no real danger. It is very disturbing to those who suffer from this. This is one of the symptoms of PTSD. I have trained in several therapeutic processes that are helpful for a lot of people. These include EMDR and RRT amount others. EMDR has been well studied and found to be very effective. RRT is currently being studied and shows a lot of promise. My clients report feeling much better after RRT. I am currently taking new clients. If you have one or many traumatic experiences that are interfering with your life, please give me a call. I take some insurances and can provide you with receipts to file your own insurance if necessary.
