Mercy unequivocally condemns all violence and violent rhetoric. Our prayers are with Charlie Kirk’s family and loved ones after today’s horrifying act of violence.

Tonight, we were made aware of unacceptable statements made by a social media user whose profile says she’s a nurse at Mercy. We reviewed our employee records and can confirm this person does not, and has never, worked at Mercy. Mercy would never tolerate any employees celebrating violence, which would be a clear violation of not only our employee policies but also our mission as a healing ministry of Jesus.

It is an honor to serve our community each and every day, so being recognized for our efforts is truly humbling.

This week, we had the privilege of celebrating a milestone that will shape health care in Oklahoma for years to come. Thanks to a new gift of nearly $4 million from The Meinders Foundation, the late Herman Meinders is now Mercy’s largest individual donor in history.

Of this incredible contribution, $3 million will expand the Meinders Center for Movement Disorders, and $700,000 will bring advanced, minimally invasive technology for lung biopsies to our patients.

Friends, family and Mercy caregivers gathered to honor this legacy, including the namesakes for the new Robert H. Meinders and Linda Meinders Drumm Neurology Clinic, which is on the third floor of the Meinders NeuroScience Institute.

Since 2018, Herman and LaDonna Meinders - who both passed away in the past year - have given more than $24 million. Their generosity leaves a legacy of hope and healing across Oklahoma.

Maina Niang is our newest Sunshine Award winner! She's a nurse technician for orthopedic patients in our main hospital, and she earned the award for tenderly caring for a 90-year-old patient.

The patient's daughter wrote in Maina's nomination that Maina was careful to respect her mother's modesty, keeping her comfortable and covered where possible when bathing during her weeks-long stay. "She was so kind and compassionate and appropriate in her natural caregiving," the patient's daughter wrote. "She cared for my mom as if she were her own, with love and respect."

Sunshine Awards are similar to the Daisy Awards for nurses, because without sunshine there would be no daisies! Please join us in congratulating Maina for being the latest winner for .

Sabrina Bailey had already impressed a mom and dad with her positivity and friendliness during a baby's delivery recently at the Love Family Women's Center, but it was her lifesaving quick-thinking that made her our most recent Daisy Award winner.

Sabrina noticed a pr*****ed cord, a potentially life-threatening condition, during a routine check while working her usual shift as a labor and delivery nurse. Sabrina had just returned to work from maternity leave herself, but her dedication to compassionate care and fast action helped ensure a safe delivery. "We firmly believe she was exactly where God needed her that day, and we are incredibly grateful for her presence," the dad wrote in his award nomination.

The DAISY Foundation's Daisy Award honors extraordinary nurses around the world, and Mercy is proud to help recognize our own incredible nurses in our hospitals and clinics around the region.

Congratulations, Sabrina!

They met a bear, made some fishy friends and had a blast doing it!

Sister Serafia and Sister Michael, Daughters of St. Francis, serve in Mercy’s Springfield communities and recently gathered for Mass and lunch with Bishop Rice. Afterward, they took their very first visit to Bass Pro Shops and the smiles say it all.

We’re so grateful for their joyful presence and for the many ways they help care for our communities.
