We want to take a moment to recognize an incredible partner of ours, Community Thrift Store (Payless Thrift / Best Thrift).

They are so much more than a worksite. Their team is truly invested in our mission and in the lives of the women in our program. They show up with encouragement, patience, and a genuine belief in each person’s ability to grow and succeed.

They don’t just offer jobs. They create a place where our residents feel supported, valued, and capable, building confidence and real skills that carry forward.

We’re so grateful for partners like them who care deeply about people and community. If you’re looking for a great place to shop and support a business that truly gives back, we can’t recommend them enough.

We’re always looking for more worksite partners. If your business is interested in providing opportunities for the men and women in our programs, we’d love to connect.

This article from highlights a reality many people don’t see.

Mothers who want help… but can’t access it.

For so many women, the biggest barrier to recovery isn’t willingness. It’s everything surrounding it. Cost. Employment. Stability. Access to care. The weight of starting over.

And too often, that means they don’t get the chance they deserve.

At Women’s Firstep, we’re committed to removing as many of those barriers as possible.

We provide:
• A safe place to live
• A path to employment
• Structure, support, and accountability
• A community that walks alongside women in recovery
• A program designed to be accessible and life-changing

We meet women where they are and help them rebuild their lives step by step.

Because every woman deserves a real chance at recovery.

In her new book, ‘Rehab: An American Scandal,’ Shoshana Walter explores how the giant substance treatment industry keeps failing many people desperate for help.

What if your next great hire could also help change a life?
We had a great time connecting with businesses at the Ben E. Keith Expo this week!

One of the biggest takeaways we’re bringing back is this: our residents have a wide range of skills, experience, and work readiness that often goes unseen. From kitchen and food service to labor, logistics, and more, they show up ready to work, grow, and contribute every single day.

We’re actively looking for local businesses who need reliable, motivated workers and want to be part of something bigger. When you partner with Firstep, you’re not just filling a position. You’re helping someone rebuild their life while meeting real workforce needs.

If your business has staffing needs or wants to learn more about partnering with us, we would love to connect.

Let’s build something meaningful together. 💙

Spring at Firstep is something special 🌷🐣

Each Easter, our campuses fill with laughter, hugs, and second chances. Families come together for visitation, kids run across the lawn during egg hunts, and the Easter Bunny makes his rounds bringing smiles to everyone he meets.

These moments may seem small, but they mean everything. They are opportunities for our residents to reconnect, rebuild trust, and create new memories with the people they love most.

We’d love your help making this weekend extra meaningful.

We’ve created an Amazon Wishlist with items for our Easter egg hunts and family celebrations. If you feel led to give, you can purchase directly from the list and have it shipped straight to our campuses.

Every egg, every piece of candy, every small gift helps create a moment that reminds our families what they’re working toward 💛

Thank you for being part of the rebuilding.

Staff Standouts: Ms. Rhonda

Ms. Rhonda is the kind of person who makes Firstep what it is.

She’s loyal, dependable, and cares deeply about our women. A true leader and no-nonsense support system, she shows up every day with honesty, wisdom, and just the right amount of humor.

You’ll always know where she stands and we love her for it. And on the hard days? Whitney Houston gets turned all the way up 🎶

She steps up for everyone and brings a level of care and knowledge we couldn’t do without.

Also… the nails? Always flawless 💅
We appreciate you, Ms. Rhonda. Firstep is better because of you 🩷

Meet our Director of Women's Firstep, Jamie!

Jamie has led with a steady confidence and a clear belief of the impact of Firstep. One of the most visible examples of this has been her work strengthening our partnerships - communicating why the therapeutic community model matters and how it truly changes lives.

We are so glad she is a part of the OKCMA team! 💙

This photo was taken during a recent outing to the First Americans Museum, and it perfectly captures why moments like these matter so much.

In this picture are men in all different stages of recovery and life. Some are brand new to Firstep, others are close to graduating. And yet here they are, showing up together, sharing space, building memories, and being part of something bigger than themselves.

Outings like this are about more than just a fun day. They create positive memories, strengthen unity, and remind our residents that they belong. That recovery doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens in community.

We are incredibly grateful for volunteers like Michael Massey and for all the individuals, churches, and community partners who continue to pour into our residents with so much intention and care. You help make moments like this possible, and the impact reaches far beyond a single photo.

This is what togetherness looks like.

Oklahoma Electric Cooperative awarded a $5,000 Operation Round Up grant to support Firstep and we are so grateful for their investment in recovery!

This support helps remove real barriers for the men and women in our long-term residential recovery programs. From transportation to essential items like bedding and hygiene supplies, these resources help people show up, work hard, rebuild stability, and move toward long-term recovery.

We love seeing Oklahoma businesses investing in their communities. Thank you to OEC for believing in second chances, supporting workforce building, and helping individuals recover lives. Your partnership makes an impact!
