Happy World Health Day!

There’s a lot of misinformation out there about tinnitus, so I want to share something important: there is no over-the-counter cure for tinnitus. ❌

As an audiologist, I work with patients every day who are struggling with ringing, buzzing, or other sounds in their ears. Tinnitus can feel frustrating and overwhelming, especially when it starts to affect sleep, focus, or peace of mind.

The good news is that you do not have to figure it out on your own. American Hearing Aid Center & Audiology Services can help identify possible causes, evaluate whether hearing loss may be involved, and guide you toward recommendations that fit your specific needs.

If tinnitus has been bothering you, reach out to us! We’re here to help.

April is the month when many of our patients start discussing their gardening plans this year!

Here at American Hearing Aid Center, we cannot wait to get outside and start cleaning up our gardens, too. We are most looking forward to planting spring perennials. 😊 What is your favorite plant in your garden?

04/01/2026

It is that time of year, Oklahoma. We will be closing early so our staff can get home safely before any potential threats come this way. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope they just bring all of us April showers .🍃🌷💦☔️

As a reminder, rechargeable hearing aid users: unplug and re-plug in all cords and charging ports as good practice anytime a power surge may occur.

It may be April Fool's Day, but we don't kid about your hearing health!

Are your hearing aids not performing like they used to? Do they make random noises, short out, or work intermittently? Notice reduced battery life or overall performance? 🤔

These are all common signs your device may need a checkup.

Sometimes, a repair or servicing is all that’s needed. But if your hearing aids are 4–5 years old and out of warranty, it might be time that they need repair, OR its time to consider new technology.

At American Hearing Aid Center, we help you explore your options and find solutions that fit your needs and budget. Our goal is to help you hear your best, with care and guidance every step of the way!

✔️ They rarely come with volume control since they often adapt to your environment.
✔️ Most hearing aids connect with your cell phone. Yes, there’s an app for that!

POV: “Everyone mumbles these days. No one speaks clearly!”

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but if this is you…. you are probably hearing the low frequencies of speech, but you’re having difficulties hearing the high pitch sounds. 🗣

This is the most common type of hearing loss I diagnose. This type of hearing loss allows you to hear the vowels but not the constant sounds.

Take the word “thirsty” for example. You might hear the “i”, “r”, and “y” pretty well.

However, it may be hard for you to understand the “th” and “s” sounds.
If this is you or someone in your family, it might be time to get in for a hearing test!

Every so often, we have a patient come into the office saying they’re having difficulty with their hearing, but their hearing test results suggest no hearing loss.

Hidden hearing loss is a term we use when patients feel like they have difficulty hearing but no issues are picked up with standard hearing tests. Often, hidden hearing loss is due to issues once the incoming sounds reach the brain, not when they’re detected by the ears. 👂🧠

Speech in noise testing can sometimes detect a hidden hearing loss, so if you’re noticing difficulty with your hearing, yet pass your hearing test. We can do some additional testing. We are here to help!

March Madness is officially here! 🏀

Did you know the odds of creating a perfect bracket are about 1 in 9.2 quintillion? You’d actually have better luck winning the lottery twice than predicting every game correctly!

One of our patients recently told us she picks her teams based on favorite mascots and colors, and honestly, that sounds like the most fun way to do it. 😆
