With nearly 50 million Americans suffering from hearing loss, medical professionals believe it is important for those over 50 to have their hearing evaluated annually. These numbers are an excellent basis to understand the reality of how many people actually suffer or are at risk of hearing loss. More importantly, it helps identify where orientation, prevention, and early intervention efforts should be directed.
Around 466 million people of all ages worldwide live with some level of hearing loss. The World Health Organization estimates those numbers will rise, projecting that by 2050, more than 900 million people will have be affected with hearing loss.
