The negative impact of the federal shutdown will increase exponentially for 684,600 of our neighbors when their SNAP benefits don't arrive as anticipated in November. The charitable network simply is not capable of replacing SNAP, though we stand ready to do what we can for our hungry neighbors. If you have the ability to help via donations, volunteering or spreading the word, now would be a great time to step in and provide support. Keep in mind that local businesses feel this impact on their bottom line as well- as dollars usually spent in our communities that will not be available.

Important information!

⚠️ Due to the federal government shutdown, SNAP benefits will be suspended beginning November 1st.

Until the federal government reaches a budget resolution, Oklahoma Human Services (OKDHS) cannot issue new or ongoing SNAP payments.

✅ You can continue using existing SNAP funds on your EBT card through October 31st, although it is unclear whether existing balances will remain available beginning Nov. 1st.

🔒 Protect your balance by locking your card when not in use.

We encourage Oklahomans to plan ahead, budget carefully, and look to local food banks and community programs such as Be A Neighbor OK for support if the shutdown continues.

Our friends at Neighborhood Services Organization are launching an important new program to help Oklahomans stay housed! Learn more here and spread the word!

We are so excited to announce our new program - NSO’s Stay Housed Tenant Advocacy Center!

The Stay Housed Tenant Advocacy Center is here to provide help and hope to those facing eviction through advocacy, navigation, and stabilization. This program is designed to help tenants understand the eviction process, connect them with vital resources, and help Oklahomans remain in their homes.

NSO is collaborating with key community partners and stakeholders to identify the most effective solutions for the individuals and families we serve. Stay Housed is funded in partnership with the Arnall Family Foundation and with support from the Arnall Community Funds at Oklahoma City Community Foundation.

Our monthly Saturday hours make it easier for patrons who can’t visit during the week to access food, clothing, and other essentials.
