Left side resting after a gentle prenatal yoga routine is the best and most important posture to practice. Why the left? It allows optimal circulation and nutrient delivery to your baby and placenta, allows kidneys to filter waste and fluid during sleep. Your uterus grows up and to the right, opposite of the heart, so this allows for more space for your uterus to grow. Left side lying keeps weight off of your liver, and helps baby move into a favorable birth position. Resting on your right side is not bad whatsoever, your left side is just a bit better.
