When Your Mind Won’t Shut Off at Night 🌙
You’re ready for bed…but your brain has other plans. Instead of drifting off, it’s running through to-do lists, conversations, and random thoughts from three years ago.
If this sounds familiar, your nervous system may be in stress mode, pumping out higher levels of cortisol - your body’s primary stress hormone.
Cortisol is meant to spike in the morning to help you wake up, then drop at night so your body can shift into rest-and-repair mode.
When your nervous system is under chronic stress, cortisol can stay elevated in the evening, throwing off your circadian rhythm (your body’s natural sleep-wake cycle). That “wired but tired” feeling at night is a sign that your body hasn’t made the switch from fight-or-flight to rest-and-digest.
Over time, this pattern can lead to:
😴 Trouble falling asleep
🌀 Restless or light sleep
⚡ Morning fatigue despite a full night in bed
😌 Mood changes and less stress resilience
Chiropractic care supports a well-regulated nervous system, helping your body shift more easily into parasympathetic (rest) mode, balance cortisol levels, and realign your circadian rhythm - so your mind and body can finally get the deep, restorative sleep they need!
