I remember spending my first Christmas flying solo and feeling mixed emotions — like I should want to be around people, even though the thought of dressing up and socializing felt like too much. There was this expectation that Christmas meant surrounding yourself with people you love… and that’s what Christmas is all about.
I LOVED those “single” holidays I had to myself 4 years ago. I’d get all the invites to other family festivities, which I’d sometimes drop by, but I ALWAYS looked forward to staying in my jammies, getting cozy on the couch with my furbabies, and hitting play on Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
That was my tradition then.
☀️Enjoying 75-degree weather with my husband and bonus children is my tradition now — and I wouldn’t change my journey for anything!!
I look at this photo and can’t help but reflect on how I got here. Not only growing into a family of four, but witnessing the community that continues to build within the walls of Evolve warms my heart like a real-life TLC movie. 🥹
I say all this as a reminder that there’s no timeline to follow and no version of the holidays you’re supposed to want.
Honoring what feels right in the season you’re in is enough. 🫶
