LifeShare of Oklahoma

LifeShare of Oklahoma You have the opportunity to save lives: be an organ, eye and tissue donor! The 21,109 square foot building was completely renovated both inside and out.

LifeShare, created in 1986 as The Oklahoma Organ Sharing Network, is a nonprofit, federally designated organ procurement organization (OPO) dedicated to the recovery of organs and tissue for transplant purposes. We work closely with five transplant centers (OU Medical Center, The Children's Hospital at OU Medical Center, Integris Baptist Medical Center, Saint Francis Hospital and St. John’s Medica

l Center) and 145 healthcare organizations in the state of Oklahoma to facilitate donation. Additionally, we strive to raise awareness for organ, eye and tissue donation and transplantation through public education. LifeShare Transplant Donor Services of Oklahoma is located at 4705 NW Expressway in Oklahoma City. LifeShare has an in-house communications center for tissue screening and a fully operational clean room to enhance kidney pump operations. There is a secondary office located in Tulsa and tissue recovery center in Oklahoma City. LifeShare has approximately 100 staff members responsible for various tasks including organ, eye and tissue screening and recovery, medical management of potential donors, quality control services, bereavement care for families, public education and awareness, hospital development and basic administration.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re highlighting Robin, our Aftercare Coordinator, who helps donor families navigate grief with care, connection, and the right resources.

Because behind every donor hero is a family learning to carry love and loss at the same time.

On , we honor the individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Corporal Benjamin S. Kopp, a member of the 75th Army Ranger Regiment, saved six of his comrades when his unit came under attack in Afghanistan. He was mortally wounded and saved four more lives back in the United States through his selfless gift of organ donation. To honor Corporal Kopp and all other brave soldiers who became organ, eye and tissue donors, the Fallen Soldier statue stands at the National Donor Memorial and honors members of our military who made organ, eye, and tissue donation their last courageous act of service. The site is a place of peace for all who wish to honor the gift of life! 💙💚

"Every day you wake up, and you're like, 'Is today going to be the day?'" For Sejal Patel, that question became the constant companion during her long and uncertain transplant journey.

In 2009, Sejal received the life-changing gift of a kidney and pancreas transplant after nearly a year on the waiting list. For a decade, her new organs sustained her through work, family milestones, and daily joys. But when her kidneys began to fail, she found herself back in familiar territory - waiting.

"It puts your life on hold," she reflects. "There's so much uncertainty, and it touches every part of your world."

In 2021, Sejal underwent dialysis while awaiting a second kidney transplant. The expereince was physically and emotionally draining, but she stayed grounded in her hope and the support of her community. That November, she received a second kidney, and with it, another chance at life.

Now, Sejal uses her voice to advocate for organ doantion, particiularly in AAPI communities where cultural and religious beliefs sometimes hinder registration. "There are so many myths and fears," she says. "But I'm living proof of what donation can do - not just for one life, but for everyone connected to it."

For Sejal, resilience means more than enduring hardship - it means finding purpose in the wait, and turning gratitude into action.
