This post has been a long time coming… because it has been somewhat difficult to accept. It is the end of a chapter in my life that was such a blessing to me in more ways than I can count. 🙏🏼

After more than a year battle with breast cancer, and all the hardships and blessings that came from that battle, I am officially closing The Nest OKC 4D Ultrasound. I was blessed with 6 amazing years of working with beautiful Mamas, Families, Babies, and Providers all over Oklahoma. My goal was to provide a more compassionate, accessible, and affordable diagnostic experience. A means of bringing women together in understanding and families together through the use of technology.
💗“Womens Care With A Womans Touch.”💗
That was the motto that I lived by, because I felt like women’s healthcare needed a woman’s touch; a gentle strength, a compassionate experience, and a womanly understanding of women’s physical and emotional needs in a healthcare setting. I was overwhelmed with the response and how this business was received in my hometown. It was obvious that it was a need that hadn’t been filled. I am thankful that, through the lifetime of my business, other registered sonographers also saw the need for this and took the time and effort to start their own studios to help fill this need within their own communities, offering even more women-owned options for Oklahoma women and families! Women empowering women: what a concept!💪🏼

Through the beginning stages of my business, I came across an amazing ultrasound manufacturer and took a leap of faith to try a new ultrasound machine that I had never heard or seen before: the Chison Sonobook 9. This was the beginning of an amazing relationship and friendship directly with the factory in China and gave me the opportunity to help other sonographers and doctors across the USA purchase and import these ultrasound machines to use within their own practices! I was even asked to make a promotional video for this machine for the factory (I’ll attach the YouTube link below)! I have been blessed to work with many sonographers from coast to coast with their purchase and teaching them how to utilize this particular ultrasound machine to the best of its ability, as well as coaching them through their purchase on getting their own business up and running!

In this new season, I have also been blessed to begin working full time as a breast sonographer, using my personal experience with breast cancer to hopefully continue giving that compassionate care to other women facing the prospect of that same battle. It has been such a fulfilling and therapeutic experience for me. It has also allowed me to provide amazing and affordable health insurance for myself and my entire family, which was something we weren’t previously able to do, since my husband and I were both self-employed. So, after a year of paying for very expensive medical bills, I am thankful that I can help relieve some of that burden on my family and help provide for them in that way.

To conclude, I just want to say thank you. Thank you for your support and encouragement of this business and of me as a person. Your support and appreciation of my work got me through many hard days. This is a community that I love and I always will. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. 🫶🏼

Can I take a minute of your time to just say… thank you! Today, The Nest OKC turns 6 years old, and I am beyond grateful for the patients, families, and providers that have supported me and this business over the last 6 years, but especially through my breast cancer journey this last year. 🙏🏼

I began this business because I have a passion for working in women’s healthcare. This business is the coming together of my education, my ultrasound experience, as well as my personal experiences as a woman and Mom and the desire to use those to help others. We all have a story, and when I started this business, part of my story included having some early pregnancy complications, feelings of not being heard in regards to my first labor and delivery, as well as the pain of going through a miscarriage. I felt like my experiences weren’t unique, but that each of these experiences could have been handled in a more compassionate way that fostered a connection and understanding. That was what was missing. Compassion. I felt like I was just another patient on a long list, and I knew I didn’t want *my* patients to feel that way. So, I sought out a way to meet the diagnostic needs of my patients in a comfortable and compassionate way that empowers them with education and choice. I used technology to create a bond between mothers and their unborn child, and allowed my patients to feel a part of the experience which created a bond between me and my patients. And in those moments where I had a Mama experiencing difficulties with her pregnancy, I could be an understanding ear and offer hope. In the moments where a Mama found out her baby no longer had a heartbeat, I could offer a shoulder to cry on because I know that pain. And in those triumphant moments where a Mama had seen me for multiple miscarriages, but now was carrying a healthy baby, I could offer up happy tears of praise and thankfulness for answered prayers! It was more than just a medical experience… it was a human experience. And through fostering those connections with my patients, I have been blessed to experience joy, pain, excitement, and sorrow alongside my patients, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. To me… this is women’s care with a woman’s touch.

My breast cancer journey over the last year has definitely been difficult for myself, my family, and my business, but the way I see it is I have another story I plan to use to help and connect with others. I am currently still giving my body time to heal from radiation treatments and trying to make up some time with my family that I felt was lost over the last year, but I can say this… No matter what, I will continue to be an advocate of easily accessible compassionate diagnostic care. I am thankful that there are other sonographers that also saw this need and sought to fill it within their own communities, giving more options for Oklahoma women and families. There are stories being written in our lives every day, and we have a choice to either keep those stories to ourselves, or to use them to connect with others and possibly help someone else. Thank you all for being a part of The Nest OKC’s story!

Guys, to say this last year has been rough would be the understatement of the century. In an effort to focus on my health and healing since my breast cancer diagnosis this last August, I had to severely limit my appointments, trying to see patients through chemo every other week on my “good week” and trying to fit in a few sweet repeat clients here and there as I was physically able after two surgeries and now during radiation therapy. This business has always been so much more than a “job” for me. I have a passion for women’s healthcare and for offering a compassionate and affordable experience for Oklahoma women and families. Being able to see your sweet faces and the faces of your growing babies during this time has helped me mentally and emotionally handle this journey. And although I am still very limited in what I can currently do, and I’m still not sure what the next several months will look like with another surgery on the table followed by some new rough medications, I do know that no matter what I will still work to help improve access to affordable and more importantly *compassionate* healthcare options for the women and growing families of Oklahoma.

I appreciate this nomination more than you all know. I do not take your support lightly or for granted. Thank you. 🙏🏼

🤗I wanted to share an exciting day with you all!!🤗Yesterday was my…
🎉🔔🥹🙏🏼❤️LAST DAY OF CHEMO❤️🙏🏼🥹🔔🎉
Here is what I wrote on my personal page…

💖 99 days since my first chemo infusion.
💖 135 days since I received the call that I have been diagnosed with cancer.
💖 142 days since the mammogram and ultrasound that found my cancer.
💖 219 days since I felt a small lump/lymph node in my opposite breast that started it all.

I have SO many emotions today! 🥹 Tremendous Gratitude, Excitement, and Relief still coupled with the dash of fear of the unknown and just some mental tiredness. It was still hard to get out of bed to come today because I know it means another week of not feeling so great, but it was definitely easier to come at the same time because I know this is the last one. I had the opportunity to show my appreciation and say thank you to Dr. Lara Theobald and all the amazing infusion nurses here at the INTEGRIS Health Cancer Institute . Everyone has just been amazing and so kind from day 1. It’s kind of bittersweet because I know this isn’t the end yet, but it feels so good to be finished with phase 1! I am just SO thankful! Over the next few weeks I will have another breast MRI to see how the tumors have reacted to the chemo and I am also going to have another full body PET to check everything as well. Then I will be meeting my radiation oncologist, Dr. Kiran Prabhu, for the first time next week and also get back in to see Dr. Denise Rable to start our plans for my double mastectomy surgery. Please say some prayers for me as I work through all of the options and decisions for that surgery as it is a very personal choice and I am having a hard time making those decisions. I continue to be so thankful for each of you for your support, thoughts, and prayers throughout this journey. You have all given me the strength to keep fighting and have helped me and my family in more ways than you realize. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Keep the prayers going! God is bigger than cancer and He continues to carry me through my hard days, give me glimpses of His power and love for me, and whisper ever so quietly to me, “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; behold, I will heal you.” (2 Kings 20:5)
