I've had the great opportunity to be interning with probably the most famous kidney specialist in the whole of Taiwan, Doctor Tian, he's been incredibly generous with his time and knowledge, I owe him a great depth of gratitude. Thank you Dr Tian.

I personally know that there is a huge disparity in the education of East Asian medicine between the US and East Asia. But I don't think that many US practitioners and students know how big it is. My primary focus on this trip is to study kidney disease. Before I came a friend and colleague showed me a text that contained about six pages in English on treating chronic kidney disease. When I came to the Medical University here in Taiwan I immediately went to the library and looked for Chinese medical books on the treatment of kidney disease with Chinese medicine, there were literally dozens of books everything from General text to individual Physicians experience on treating chronic kidney disease. The two books below are about 2 inches thick containing more than 800 pages each if they were translated into English they would easily be more than 1500 pages. And some people in the US wonder why Chinese medicine is not effective in treating certain conditions.
