Have you met Judson Black?

Judson, a Float EMT at Loudon County Jail in Lenoir City, Tennessee, was called to a unit where a patient undergoing detox protocol was not feeling well. Vital signs indicated a significant drop in blood pressure. The patient asked to use the restroom, at which time Judson noted blood mixed with the patient's stool.

Justin called Donna Chisholm, FNP, and they decided to send the patient to the ER. The patient was diagnosed with a life-threatening GI bleed.

“Thanks to Judson's excellent history and skills, as a provider, I was able to make the decision to send the patient to have further diagnostics,” Donna said. “Our frontline staff member should certainly be commended for his excellent presentation regarding this patient.”

Have you met Don Henry?

Don, an RN at the Aurora County Detention Center in Aurora, Colorado, was called to a medical code involving an unresponsive person. Upon assessment, the patient was found to have critically low heart and respiratory rates, with no obtainable blood pressure.

Don immediately initiated life-saving interventions, including the administration of Narcan. The patient was successfully revived, transported to the hospital, and later returned to the facility without additional complications.
