Last week, our Programs Team hit the road to attend the 28th Annual Symposium hosted by the National Alliance for Children's Grief!

They had the opportunity to learn from and connect with fellow members across the country, and even led a few breakout sessions themselves.

Thank you to NACG for a meaningful week of connection, learning, and shared commitment to grief education, services, and support!

About Calm Waters’ Programs

GRIEF SUPPORT GROUPS: Monday evenings from 6 to 7:30 p.m., every other week, August through June. Our grief support groups are on-going, meaning, families may join a group at any time and stay connected for as long as needed. Families attend the same night together, but participants are divided by age, type of death and who died. Grief support groups are for ages 3 to adult. Register for a grief support group online at: www.calmwaters.org/grief-group-registration-form INFANT LOSS SUPPORT GROUPS: Monday evenings from 5 to 6 p.m. This support group is for those who have experienced a miscarriage, stillbirth, or death of an infant (birth to 12 months of age). This special Infant Loss Support Group is open to moms and dads only. This group allows parents, in a safe and supportive group setting, to focus on unique grief issues connected to the death of an infant. Register for the Infant and Pregnancy Loss Support group online at: www.calmwaters.org/pregnancy-and-infant-loss-registration-form/ DIVORCE SUPPORT GROUPS: Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., every other week, August through June.

In order to attend divorce support groups, children must be aware that parents are divorcing. Co-parents who were never married and going through a custody change may also attend. Divorce support groups are for ages 3 to adult. Family members are divided into age appropriate groups including children groups, teen groups, young adult and adult groups. All family members may attend or a single adult; minors cannot attend groups without a guardian present. Both parents are welcome to attend, we have at least two adult groups, therefore each co-parent may attend their own group. Consistent attendance is most beneficial for the family. Register for a divorce support group online at: https://www.calmwaters.org/calm-waters-divorce-support-group-registration-form/ For all groups, once your online registration form has been received, a Calm Waters’ staff member will contact you to schedule an intake appointment prior to the beginning of groups. The intake appointment determines group readiness and is required for all who want to attend a Calm Waters group. PARENTING THROUGH DIVORCE SEMINARS: The Calm Waters Parenting Through Divorce (PTD) seminar is offered three times each month and is a court-approved seminar. A $50 fee is required. For more information, visit: www.calmwaters.org/programs/parenting-through-divorce-seminar-2/ CALM WATERS AT SCHOOL School-Based Groups: Calm Waters sends staff and trained facilitators into metro-area schools to conduct school-based support groups to assist children with a variety of losses, including death, divorce, foster care issues, and the incarceration or deployment of a parent or guardian.
