Calm Waters Center for Children and Families

Calm Waters Center for Children and Families Calm Waters provides free grief support services for children and families on their grief journey caused by death, divorce or other significant loss.

GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP
Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., every other week. Our grief support groups are on-going, meaning, families may join a group at any time and stay connected for as long as needed. Families attend the same night together, but participants are divided by age, type of death and who died. Grief support groups are for ages 3 to adult. DIVORCE SUPPORT GROUPS
Thursday evenings

from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., every other week. In order to attend divorce support groups, children must be aware that parents are divorcing. Co-parents who were never married and going through a custody change may also attend. Divorce support groups are for ages 3 to adult. CALM WATERS AT SCHOOL
School-Based Groups: Calm Waters sends staff and trained facilitators into metro-area schools to conduct school-based support groups to assist children with a variety of losses, including death, divorce, foster care issues, and the incarceration or deployment of a parent or guardian. All questions or inquiries about our programs can be directed to 405-841-4800 or info@calmwaters.org

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re proud to continue highlighting our team of therapists and the care they bring to this work each day.

Kassandra Gaona (LMFT-C) has been with Calm Waters since June 2025 and previously served at our agency as a clinical intern.

She shares her hope that clients come to understand grief as another form of love because we only hurt deeply when we have loved deeply. She also reminds those she works with that even when it feels like everything is falling apart, they are stronger than they realize and will find their way through grief.

Walking into Camp Courage means walking into a room where kids in grief do not have to feel different or alone.

Through art, creativity, and connection with other children who understand loss, campers find support, friendship, and space to explore their grief.

Registration is open for Camp Courage on July 16! Learn more at calmwaters.org.

If you, or someone you know is in need of grief support, we have a new cohort of free virtual support groups and private grief counseling available.

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re proud to continue highlighting our team of therapists and the heart they bring to this work.

Jordan Park (LMFT) serves as our Lead Therapist, seeing clients throughout the week and supervising our graduate counseling students. She finds deep meaning in supporting and mentoring the next generation of therapists, especially in the areas of grief and loss that are often not fully covered in graduate training.

Her hope is to help ease even a small part of the isolation and heaviness that can come with grief, and to hold hope for her clients when they are unable to hold it themselves.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to partner with Diversion Hub to expand access to grief support in our community!

Yesterday, the Diversion Hub team joined Calm Waters for a personalized grief training designed to equip their staff to offer grief support group programming within their agency in partnership with Calm Waters.

This initiative is made possible through funding from the Arnall Family Foundation, whose investment in community partners continues to create meaningful impact across Oklahoma.

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, we are spotlighting our team of therapists!

They will be sharing what inspires their work and what drives their commitment to walking alongside individuals and families navigating grief and mental health needs.

Our Clinical Director, Heather Gaglio (LMFT), has been with Calm Waters since August of 2019. She oversees the counseling clinic, supervises staff therapists, provides counseling services, leads grief education trainings, and supports communities in crisis following trauma or loss.

Through her work, Heather has seen the importance of holding hope, creating connection, and reminding people they do not have to navigate grief alone.
