Gestational Diabetes May Set Stage for Long-Term Cardiovascular Risks.
Gestational diabetes is a form of diabetes that develops during pregnancy. An analysis of nine high-quality cohort studies involving more than 4 million women found that gestational diabetes was associated with increased risks of acute heart failure (74%), myocardial infarction (63%), and ischemic stroke (70%), highlighting its potential long-term impact on cardiovascular health.
