Here at Heritage Avonlea of Olathe, we are teaming up with Honor Flight is a national program that provides free trips to Washington, D.C., for U.S. military veterans to visit the memorials honoring their service.
Overview
Honor Flight is a non-profit initiative dedicated to honoring American veterans by transporting them to Washington, D.C., to visit memorials commemorating the wars in which they served. The program primarily focuses on World War II veterans, but also includes veterans of the Korean War, Vietnam War, and other conflicts, especially those with terminal illnesses. Since its inception in 2005, the Honor Flight Network has flown over 244,000 veterans from more than 130 locations across the United States.

+3. We are writing cards of encouragement to one Veteran. Who is participating in this program. Last year we wrote several notes, and letters to a veteran. He was moved to tears with gratitude. In Washington DC there is a ceremony with Honor Flight where the veterans and presented the cards. Also, we have big plans to create care packages to some active soldiers.
