Optometric Assistant

Job description:
Family Eye Care is looking for a full-time member of our staff for front desk reception. Duties include working with patients, answering phones, making appointments, looking up insurance, frame selection, contact lens fittings, etc. Will train the right person but must be honest, dependable, detail-oriented, able to type, basic computer skills, friendly, and able to work well with others.

We offer pay starting at $16-$19/hour as well as an excellent work atmosphere and work hours, vacation benefits, 401k option, employee discounts, as well as the possibility of a team-oriented quarterly bonus program.

Hours are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 8:45-6, Thurs 9:45-7, Fridays 9-1 and one Saturday a month 9-1.
Experience in an Optometry office or medical setting is preferred but not required. We look forward to hearing from you!

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour

Dr. Aaron Meyer

Where did you go to school?
I went to Kansas State & then Oklahoma College of Optometry.

What extracurricular activities did you participate in high school or college?
I did a lot with the church & I ran the free eye clinic in Oklahoma.

As a child, did you want to be a doctor? If not, what occupation?
I wanted to be an Optometrist since the 3rd grade.

What do you like most about your job?
I love putting contacts in patients eyes for the 1st time.

What is a common misconception about your field of work?
That we only do contacts & glasses.

What do you like about living in the Kansas City area?
The people.

Do you have any pets?
No.

Who is your favorite sports team?
Kansas State Wildcats.

If you were on an island, what 3 items would you bring?
My prayer journal, my blanket, and a radio to listen to the Royals.

What is your favorite meal?
My grandmother's tacos.

Coffee or tea?
Tea.

Basketball or baseball?
I wasn't all that great at either, but baseball has a place in my heart.

Chocolate or vanilla?
Is both an option? :-)
