Hi, I’m Karen, a clinically licensed social worker in Kansas with over 27 years of experience working with individuals and couples. I’m deeply passionate about supporting people as they heal from trauma and navigate life’s most challenging moments. My background includes extensive experience supporting survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and childhood abuse, as well as individuals navigating anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship challenges, parenting concerns, and self-esteem growth.
My therapeutic style is compassionate, practical, and straightforward. I believe therapy works best when it’s collaborative, respectful, and centered around your strengths. I draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, Solution-Focused Therapy, and the Gottman Method to support meaningful, lasting change. I enjoy helping clients set goals, recognize their resilience, and move toward the life they want to build.
I was drawn to this field through my volunteer work as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate), which inspired me to return to school and pursue a second degree in social work after beginning my career in business management. That experience shaped my belief that change is always possible. Over the years, I’ve been continually inspired by the courage, strength, and perseverance of the clients I’ve had the privilege to work alongside.
Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy adventure travel and recently hiked, whitewater rafted, and zip-lined in Costa Rica. I also love off-roading on an ATV, staying active, and curling up with a good book when life slows down. I grew up in Wichita and recently moved to the Kansas City area. I'm also a dog lover and adore my 11-year-old Poochin (a miniature Poodle and Japanese Chin) named Duncan.
If you’re looking for a grounded therapist who believes in your ability to heal, grow, and move forward, I’d be honored to support you on that journey.
