Mental health matters for everyone, but cultural, systemic, and historical challenges often create unique barriers for BIPOC individuals. This month, let's come together to:

🧠 Raise Awareness: Break the stigma around mental health in our communities. Knowledge is power, and talking about mental health openly can save lives.

🤝 Support Each Other: Reach out to friends, family, and neighbors. A simple conversation can make a world of difference.

💡 Educate and Empower: Learn about the mental health resources available specifically for BIPOC individuals. Share this information to help others access the care they need.

💬 Advocate for Change: Push for more inclusive and culturally competent mental health services. Everyone deserves access to care that respects and understands their unique experiences.

Let's make mental health a priority for everyone! If you or someone you know would like more information about our support groups or counseling services, please call 913-393-4283.

Sister Circle provides a safe space for African American women to express their vulnerability, be listened to, and receive support.

The topic for the month of June was perimenopause and depression. Gloria Derritt, LPC, shed light on the significance of advocating for appropriate tests and understanding this change in black women.

If you or someone you know is interested in joining Sister Circle - visit our website to register! You won’t want to miss it.

We will see you in July! ☀️

As we celebrate Juneteenth today, we not only recognize the end of slavery in the United States but also reflect on the importance of mental health in the Black community. The journey towards freedom and equality is deeply intertwined with the pursuit of mental and emotional well-being.

According to national details gathered by the American Psychological Association (APA), people from racial and ethnic minority groups are less likely to receive support for mental health challenges.

We recognize the importance of addressing health disparities that disproportionately affect black communities and we are committed to promoting health equity and fostering a culture of inclusivity.

Together, let's promote awareness, provide resources, encourage open communication, and empower black voices in mental health.

We want to give a heart-felt thank you to the women’s ministry group at Second Baptist of Olathe for hosting a women’s brunch for Mental Health Awareness Month at GWH! In honor of this important month, the women who attended wore green, the national color of mental health representing hope, strength, support, encouragement for those who live with a mental illness.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month!

Did you know that 1 in 4 people live with a mental health condition? During this month, let's empower each other to talk about our mental health challenges and support one another as we work towards healing. It's vital to shine a light on something that affects us all: our mental well-being.

You are not alone if you are struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, or another mental health condition. We want you to know there is HOPE for you!

At GateWay of Hope, we provide women 15 years and older with counseling and support group services. We are a safe and confidential space to speak with a licensed counselor who is capable to walk alongside of you.

If you or someone you know would like more information, please call us at 913-393-4283 or visit us at www.gwhope.org.
