Trigger Warning: Perinatal Bereavement
This is bereavement doula support…

I am not currently taking doula clients but as a someone who has gone through loss I will always make time. This is 36 weeks pregnant, SAHM mom, 2 hour board meeting and a late night hour+ long FaceTime call to support this mother, tired face.

I’m so thankful I did because her follow up appointment this morning she did not get the support (physically, mentally or emotionally) or resources from her doctor that she needed.

Perinatal bereavement is never easy. Don’t be afraid to reach out for support to a doula, like myself, family and friends. It can make the difference in your healing journey.

Pregnancy after loss, it’s different, it’s quiet, it’s feeling less excitement, not ready to share with others, it’s waiting for negative news while praying for this baby to stick and grow.

Feeling grateful to be in the third trimester as we await the arrival of our second earthside baby.

🌟 Meet Your Doula 🌟

Hi, I’m Melisa! I’m a full-time mother to one earthside babe, wife to my husband of 9 years. Having gone through many challenges myself, my service is centered on providing empathy, guidance, and support to women.

I am certified in birth and bereavement doula care, fertility and menopause advocacy, and herbalism. I have additional training in other related areas.

A special part of my services and I — I am passionate about keeping my culture and our practices thriving through traditional birth keeping and healing.
I am from Oaxaca, Mexico. Born in shared hospital room with 8 laboring mothers and 8 babies. I lived in Mexico during my early childhood. My mother is no. 11 of 12 children from a rural village of Oaxaca, so rural you will find almost nothing on the internet about this village. They were raised as produce and animal farmers, washing their clothes at the side of a river and making almost all of their food and things. Rooted in the wisdom of Mother Earth.
My father was raised on Isla Mujeres and his family hometown a rural village, most of his family are cane farmers. His paternal grandmother had 6 children. For all 6 of her births, she would walk into a wooded area behind her home, free birth completely alone, and return with walking with her beautiful baby.

Naturally Rooted Doula was founded to support women through all births and postpartum.

Kansas weather - 70s and windy 🍃

For decades the elder women in my family and community have advised pregnant and menstruating women to stay warm and cozy during colder days - even on days like today.

Letting the coldness into our body is believed to be a root cause for aches and pains.

During pregnancy, menstruation and postpartum, heat is what keeps our body healthy and thriving.

Stay cozy, enjoy a nice warm meal or tea and like my mom says - put on your socks the floor is cold 🧦 😉

If you can’t tell by my husband’s face! I’ve been hiding a secret for the past few months!

I assumed my role as a board member of the Kansas City Infertility foundation this January! 🥳

I am excited to be working behind the scenes with a group of amazing women supporting others.

My health and fertility complications began at almost 19 years old. It’s coming close to a decade of my journey and I am honored in a space where I am ready to be giving back to this community.
