Our Story

Monica Drake, that’s me, is a birth doula serving the Kansas City Area. Can I stop speaking in third person though? I’m a wife, mom of 3 babies on earth and 2 in heaven, book nerd, birth nerd, and love creating relationships. I’m a people person. I love my family, my community, and Jesus. I love supporting families during the birthing year. From clients who hire me at 5 weeks to clients who find me right at the end of pregnancy, my goal is to make sure you feel supported the whole way through. Through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. My connections range from my amazing team of backup doulas in the KC Doula Connective, to massage therapists, chiropractors, lactation consultants, therapists, and postpartum doulas. Now the good part, what do I do? I provide emotional, physical, and informational support. Your partner may worry about feeling pushed out with a doula in the room. But, I can promise, that’s not the case with me there. My job is to bring partners together during the birth process. I make sure that your partner feels 100% able to support you and feels supported themselves too. I can never replace the emotional connection that your partner provides, I’m there to be the guide to the birth it is that you envision. That could look like an unmedicated birth, a birth with midwife or an OB, a birth with alllllll the pain meds, or a planned cesarean birth (yes, I have supported multiple clients in pre-op, in the OR, and post-op). I support whatever birth choices you make for your family. You are in charge, you are capable of making the right decisions, and I help you feel confident at each step.
