As much as we love our patients and want to see you often, we know that you love us best when we can keep you out of the office. If you need to shovel your walk, follow Dr. Williams’ tips to help protect your back.
• Push the shovel, don’t lift it. When possible, push the snow to the side instead of lifting and throwing it. If you have to lift, work in smaller sections and take smaller, lighter scoops of snow.
• When lifting, use your legs. Bend your knees, keep your back straight and engage your core muscles while keeping the shovel close to your body. Move your feet instead of twisting your torso when you are dumping the snow.
• If you do injure your low back, never put heat on it. Give us a call Monday morning and we will get you in!
