🧠 New research shows a strong overlap between Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and ADHD in children and adolescents.

In a recent pilot study, most young people assessed for FASD were already diagnosed with ADHD and taking medication — showing just how easily these conditions can be confused.

Understanding this overlap matters. When FASD goes unrecognised, children may not get the tailored supports they need for learning, behaviour, and emotional regulation.

The takeaway? Integrated, multidisciplinary assessments are essential to ensure the right diagnosis and support for every child.
