This is spot on.

I’m your parent first and friend second.

This means I’ll tell you when you’re wrong,
lecture you,
enforce rules,
lose it with you when I can't get something into your head,
drive you absolutely out your mind at times,
make sure you’re where you said you were,
all because I love you.

In fact, you’ll never find anyone in your life who loves, cares, and worries about you as much as I do.

If you hate me for a time, so be it.

Because I'm doing it ALL for you.
To mold you into the amazing, kind, and authentic human I know you are.
And that matters so much more to me than your misdirected hate.

You have friends you dress like,
listen to music with,
and share in your shenanigans,
but I aim to be more than that for you.

Like a friend, you can always talk to me about anything,
laugh with me,
trust me and enjoy doing things with me,
but I’m going to hold you accountable.

And I promise not to judge you for your mistakes, but I’ll help you learn
by maintaining the boundaries
you need to grow.

And I do hope one day we’ll be mother and friend,
to be your sounding board,
your first call,
that you want to join me out for dinner
or to just hang out.

But it won’t happen until the day you grow into an adult who understands all that I did and do is in your best interest.

But even then, I’ll always be your parent first.

Another grandchild coming to the Mother to Mother Family.

This!!

This!!

"It’s time to ask the tough questions.

Because when we give babies no choice but to cry it out, we need to ask what is the “it”?

The “it” is safety. The “it” is connection. The “it” is tenderness.

The “it” is us – their parents.

They are crying for us.

For us to come, for us to not leave, for us to pick them up, for us to soothe them, to hold them close.

As harsh a truth as that may seem, there’s no escaping it.

And what’s harsher is expecting babies to do what we can’t even do as adults – to ‘self soothe’."

Tissues in hand!

This made me cry 😭😭

When you first have children they talk about the challenges of parenting...

the struggles of a baby waking in the night,

the toddler who won’t stay in their bed, the cost of childcare, injuries from sports...

Having to take off work to pick them up from school when they don’t feel well, helping them with homework, a messy house, the never ending laundry, the cost to buy school clothes, packing their lunches...

You watch their eyes light up on Christmas morning... and try to soak in the magic of those moments.

You coach them in sports, rushing to practices and ballgames...

and tote them all over the country to let them play the game they love...

no matter how exhausting or expensive it becomes.

Life is just so busy that you rarely even stop to think what the end of those days look like.

In fact, it’s not really even something you can wrap your mind around.

You go into it thinking that 18-20 years sounds like a long time...

Then suddenly hours turn into days...

days into months...

and months into years.

That little person that used to crawl up next to you in bed and cuddle up to watch cartoons...

suddenly becomes this young adult who hugs you in the hallway as they come and go.

And the chaos and laughter that used to echo throughout your home...

gets filled with silence and solitude.

You’ve learned how to parent a child who needs you to care for and protect them...

but have no clue how the whole “letting go” thing is supposed to work.

So you hold on as tight as you can...

wondering how time passed so quickly...

feeling guilty that you missed something...

Because even though you had 20 years...

it just somehow doesn’t seem like it was enough.

You ask yourself so many questions...

Did you teach them the right lessons?

Did you read them enough books as a child?

Spend enough time playing with them?

How many school parties did you have to miss?

Do they really know how much you love them?

What could I have done better as a parent?
...When it’s time for them to go, it all hits you like a ton of bricks.

And all you can do is pray...

hope...

and trust that God will protect them as they start to make their way into the world alone.

Parenting is by far the most amazing experience of your life...

that at times leaves you exhilarated...

while others leave you heartbroken.

But one thing is certain...

it’s never enough time...💕

So for all the parents with young children...

whose days are spent trying to figure out how to make it through the madness...

Exhausted day in and day out...

Soak. It. All. In.

Because one day...

all those crazy days full of cartoons, snuggles, sleep overs, Christmas morning magic, ballgames, practices and late night dinners...

All come to an end.

And you’re left hoping that you did enough right, so that when they spread their wings...

They’ll fly...💕💕💕

Let me tell you all about my friend, the peanut ball. Yes, you read that right {🥜 + 🏈}

Research has shown that women with a labor epidural {using a peanut ball} decreased their first stage of labor by an average of 𝟗𝟎 𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐔𝐓𝐄𝐒 and their second stage of labor (aka pushing!) by 𝟐𝟐 𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐔𝐓𝐄𝐒!!! And, who wouldn’t want that?! 🤗

And it's not just for mamas who choose to have a labor epidural! Women without a labor epidural {using a peanut ball} decreased their first stage of labor by an average of 𝟏𝟎𝟖 𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐔𝐓𝐄𝐒 and second stage of labor by 𝟐𝟗 𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐔𝐓𝐄𝐒!!!! Can I get a hallelujah? 🙌🏾❤️

But that's not all!!! Women {using a peanut ball} during labor experienced a 𝟏𝟐 𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐃𝐄𝐂𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐄 in cesarean sections!!! Sign me up! 🙋🏽

The key to labor progression is *movement of your pelvis*! Your uterus + peanut ball + turning frequently = ✨ 🅜🅐🅖🅘🅒 ✨

It’s not often I post pictures of babies from my childbirth class, but I couldn’t resist this. Their parents were in my class back in February. The little guy was born end of March and this sweet girl was born three weeks later. Two healthy beautiful babies. So proud of their mamas. For those of you who are wondering , yes that’s my grandson Jameson. 🥰

It’s all in the pelvis.

It’s all in the pelvis.

Use the in for where the baby needs it!

➡️ Between the thighs 🟰space at the top
➡️ Between the ankles 🟰 space at the bottom

YES YOU READ THAT CORRECTLY 🔥

And here’s a … when the baby’s head is at the outlet during , space is needed at the top (for the shoulders) and the bottom (for the head) so keep changing up the 👯

Kissing your baby changes your breast milk. Did you know that the undeniable urge to cover your baby in kisses serves a biological purpose? When a mother kisses her baby, she samples the pathogens on baby’s face, which then travel to mom’s lymphatic system. Mom’s body then creates antibodies to fight those pathogens, which baby receives through breast milk. What?! Amazing, right?

“The fewer toys kids have, the more they play. “

We're lead to be believe that if a little is good, then more is better. But, the irony is when it comes to toys, the fewer kids have the more they play.

Amazing

A research team at the Yale School of Medicine, found that human milk contains a sugar molecule, called myo-inositol, that was present in every sample of milk they tested. myo-inositol appears to boost neuronal synapse abundance and enhances neuronal connectivity. It is a brain builder. It also appears to be dose-dependant, meaning that the more human milk, the more brain building activity. So keep on keeping on, feed human babies human milk! Check it out here: Paquette, A. F., Carbone, B. E., Vogel, S., Israel, E., Maria, S. D., Patil, N. P., ... & Biederer, T. (2023). The human milk component myo-inositol promotes neuronal connectivity. Traveling with a baby shouldn’t be daunting. Here are a few helpful things to consider

Planes, trains & automobiles. Traveling with infants and toddlers can be challenging. If you are flying, try to plan to offer the breast (or a bottle) at take-off and landing. When babies are eating they are swallowing which can help with ear popping.
Taking a train or driving a long distance? Have plenty of toys on hand, bottles if you can’t stop to feed the baby frequently, and a car charger for your pump if you will need to pump.
Do you have any travel tips you could share with other families?
