Yesterday, we were called out for an outdoor smoke investigation. The caller was on the NYS Thruway and noticed smoke in the area. We were able to locate the brush fire causing the smoke. A tree caught on fire that we quickly exinguished. The homeowner’s 3 children helped up wet down the area around the brush fire, and learned some fire safety tips.

We hope you are able to get out and enjoy the nice weather while you can. Oh yes! Watch out for the bees 😳.

*************Training announcement*************
This Saturday May 17th we will be conducting a training exercise at the Ooms Conservation area on Rock City Road. We will begin around 9am, if you see members walking the area in vests it is okay. We are conducting a training on search and rescue, the Conservation area will still be open to the public. We will utilize the least amount of parking spaces as possible.
We would like to give an early thank you to Columbia Land Conservancy for working with us in the planning stages of the drill by providing maps and other valuable information about the property.
Again, this is a training only to keep our members up to speed on wilderness search and rescue.
