🌟 BIG NEWS in Pelvic Health OT! 🌟

Every powerful change begins with the courage to challenge the status quo — we’re proud to share that the New York State Occupational Therapy Association (NYSOTA) has officially approved the Position Statement on Pelvic Health Occupational Therapy!

Over a year ago, this vision started as a proposal — a call to recognize and elevate the vital role of OTPs in pelvic health. Since then, it has grown into a collaborative effort, fueled by passion, clinical expertise, and relentless advocacy.

This milestone was made possible by an extraordinary team of NY pelvic health OT leaders:

👥 NY PH Team:
Nicole Muriel, Marlene Handler, Carissa Elizabeth O'Rourke, Nicole Nagib, Jacklyn Iannitti, Samantha Walker

🧠 Consultants & Expert Support:
Carlin Reaume, Richard Sabel

💼 **NYSOTA Leadership & Board Support:**
Michael Roff, Jeff Tomlinson, and Beth Chiarello

We are deeply grateful for every voice, every edit, every conversation, and every moment of persistence that brought this statement to life. 💬✊

This is a historic step forward for occupational therapy in New York — and a powerful example of what happens when we come together to advocate for what matters.

📣 Want to get involved?
Join the NYSOTA Pelvic Health Community of Practice and the AOTA Pelvic Health CoP to stay connected, get support, and learn how *you* can initiate or support pelvic health advocacy in your own state.

📣 Check out this Slate article where experts break down just how ESSENTIAL pelvic health is — and how financial barriers have kept too many people from getting the care they need.

One voice we’re especially proud to see featured? Marlene Handler — a PR‑MATT graduate, PR‑MATT NYC in-person lab instructor, and powerhouse clinician who built a thriving private practice in Brooklyn, NY. 💪

I'm so proud of Marlene for using her voice and expertise to drive real change. It’s a powerful reminder that progress starts with dedicated, passionate professionals. Let’s celebrate the clinicians who not only heal bodies but also break down access barriers." ✨
