Four local ladies came together today in our meeting room to sew handmade teddy bears that will be given to some of our youngest patients during ambulance calls. These special bears are meant to bring comfort, ease fears, and put a smile on a child’s face during difficult moments.

A big thank you to Tracey Down, Jane Cameron, Laurie Clark, and Judy Lonergan for donating their time, creativity, and kindness to this thoughtful project. Small gestures like these can make a very big difference for a child in an emergency situation.

What a wonderful example of neighbors helping neighbors and caring for our community in such a meaningful way.

Please join the Front Door Diner & Back Door Bar on Wednesday, May 27th for a benefit dinner in support of the Langworthy family.

Mr. Dave Langworthy has spent so many years serving our community as a member of the Old Forge Volunteer Ambulance Corps, answering calls at all hours to help friends, family members, neighbors, and even complete strangers during some of their hardest moments. Now, he needs our help more than ever.

Let’s come together as a community and support someone who has always been there for all of us.

The Langworthy family has given so much to our community, serving as long-time dedicated teachers and volunteers. After an unfortunate chain of recent medical emergencies, it is our turn to show up and support them.

We invite our neighbors and friends to come together on Wednesday, May 27th for a benefit dinner at the Front Door Diner & Back Door Bar.

We brought our simulator to TOW High School, where students in the Responding to Emergencies class had the opportunity to work through real-life emergency scenarios involving head, neck, and back injuries. They practiced proper stabilization techniques and learned how to safely move patients while minimizing further injury.

This is such a great class at TOW. It gives students the chance to practice real-life situations and prepares them for real-world careers and emergencies.

We have a special youth session of CPR and BLS certification on Saturday, May 16th from 10am - 2pm. We have a few spots left, this class is geared for kids aged 10-16 years old. Call 315-369-6008 or email oldforge@midyork.org to reserve a spot. This would be a great thing to have for those babysitting this summer!

We are incredibly grateful for the generosity and support shown to our organization as we continue working towards completion of our new volunteer ambulance building.

Recently, members of our Board of Directors and our chief had the opportunity to meet with CEO Jeremy Rutter, Chief Strategy Officer Lenora D’Arcy and Mike Murphy of the Community Wellness Partners at the former Presbyterian Home Campus.

Community Wellness Partners has generously partnered with us by donating medical-grade furniture, medical-related equipment, and many other essential items that will help furnish and support our new facility. Their kindness and commitment to community health will have a lasting impact on our organization and patients we serve.

We sincerely thank Jeremy, Lenora, Mike and the entire Community Wellness Partners team for their support, hospitality and belief in our mission. Partnerships like these help make our vision for the future possible.

The Old Forge Volunteer Ambulance Corps. is proud to introduce an exciting new way to bring advanced EMS education directly to providers, volunteers, and agencies throughout our region.

The Training Ambulance is a fully equipped, mobile EMS classroom designed to create realistic, hands-on learning experiences for emergency responders. With tools such as virtual reality training, cardiac event simulations, specialty equipment, manikins, and a true ambulance-style environment, this simulator allows providers to practice real-world scenarios in a safe and educational setting.

This program goes beyond technical skills. It also focuses on the whole provider, including mental health awareness, substance use disorder awareness, stress, burnout, trauma exposure, and community outreach education.

By making training mobile, flexible, and accessible, the Training Ambulance helps strengthen not only EMS professionals, but the communities they serve. It gives volunteer squads, EMS agencies, and fire departments the opportunity to receive advanced education right where they are.

Innovative training means stronger providers, safer communities, and better support for those who answer the call.
