Supporting Our Neighbors Through the SNAP Crisis 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Many families in our community rely on SNAP (food stamps) — and due to the ongoing federal shutdown, new SNAP benefits may not be issued for November. Food insecurity is rising fast, and our local food pantries are urgently trying to prepare.

The New London Area Food Pantry is now serving 300+ families every week, and that number is expected to grow. They’ve asked for help stocking their shelves with non-perishable items in larger quantities — things like:

Cereal boxes

Peanut butter

Beans

Pasta

Rice

Shelf-stable pantry staples

✨️Both studios now have a Food Drive Drop-Box at the entrance.

If you’re able, please bring unexpired, unopened non-perishables the next time you visit class. Even one item makes a difference when we come together.

📍 Donations will be delivered directly to the New London Area Food Pantry, serving families right here in our community and will be collected for as long as needed.

Thank you for helping us support our neighbors during this challenging time.
Let’s keep our community nourished in every way we can. 💛🙏

Circa 2017 📸 You may not know this, but when you choose to practice at Hot on Bank / Threaded Elements, your class pass or membership becomes part of something bigger.

Just as our classes meet you time and time again — no matter what you need — your presence helps us keep yoga within reach for others.

Since 2016, more than 30,000 people have practiced here through our discounted community classes. That’s not a campaign or a side project. It’s built into who we are.

Every class you take helps sustain the space that makes this possible — where everybody gets yoga. Always.

Thank you for practicing with us.
No matter what class you join, you are a valuable part of this community — each of us coming to the mat as we are.

And that, at its heart, is the yoga — which literally means union — the coming together that connects us all 🕉🧘‍♂️🧘‍♀️

Threaded Elements Yoga — a name that simply gives voice to what has always been here.

This change isn’t about becoming something new; it’s about naming what we’ve quietly embodied all along. The threads that weave our teachers, students, and practices together have always been many — strength and softness, movement and rest, effort and ease.

We offer so many forms of practice — from yoga for aging bodies and prenatal care, to therapeutic Hatha, fiery flow, and gentle restoration — but beneath it all runs the same current: a love for the practice itself, and a deep care for the people who show up.

It doesn’t matter what class you walk into — a weekday morning flow, a weekend deep dive, or a community class in New London — you’ll find teachers who carry that same element of care, devotion, and presence. Our teachers don’t teach to be seen — they teach to help you see yourself more clearly through the practice.

As we step forward under this new name, we honor what has always been true here:
That yoga is for every body.
That growth and rest both matter.
And that genuine care is the thread that holds it all together.

With love and gratitude,
Threaded Elements Yoga

Tutorial Tuesday ✨ Caring for Your Neck in Asana

Today, we explored how the chin’s position shapes and protects the neck through different movements of the spine:

When the head is below the heart in postures such as Down Dog, pyramid pose, standing or seated forward folds, keep a gentle tuck of the chin toward the collarbones to lengthen and support the back of the neck.

When the spine is parallel to the ground in postures such as Side Angle, crescent twist and Thread the Needle, add a subtle tuck and roll of the chin toward the armpit to keep the head from dangling.

When the spine is upright, in Warrior II or other standing shapes, simply turn the chin to follow the gaze, keeping the sides of the neck long and the back strong.

When extending or backbending in Up Dog, Cobra, Reverse Warrior, Dancer, Cow, let the chin glide slightly forward and up to create length and space instead of crunching the back of the neck.

These small, intentional adjustments keep the cervical spine long, stable, and free, helping your neck stay both strong and spacious as you move. 🌿✨

I hope this was helpful! Thank you for being here 🥰✨️
