SUMMER 2025, CALLING ALL KIDS AND FAMILIES 🩷🌻

🩷 This summer, our therapists will be offering BRAND NEW 6-week “say and play” parent and me sessions!

🎶 🧸 These sessions are play-based and follow a predictable, routine-building structure. Activities focus on building communication skills, fostering peer interactions, and furthering child and caregiver bonding.

📍Where: Our Holland Speech Therapy Services clinic In Scarborough

📆 When: See website for details based on your child’s age!

⏰ Duration: 6 weeks, 1x/ week, 45 minutes sessions

🧑‍🧒 Who: caregiver + kiddo, siblings are welcome if under 5.

🏡 Led by an SLP, our sessions are fully inclusive. Our offices have ample space for kiddos to take breaks, take a breather, and re-join us when they can.

💻 Registration will open within the next 2 weeks!

🏡 Led by an SLP, our sessions are fully inclusive. Our offices have ample space for kiddos to take breaks, take a breather, and re-join us when they can.

Cara is a Scarborough resident who has been involved in our local communities for years. She adores the pediatric population and is passionate about connecting with families. We are so thrilled to have you, Cara — our children and families are so fortunate to have such an enthusiastic therapist coming their way! ✨🤍

We have TWO exciting additions to our team coming up in March, and they each deserve their own moment! HSTS is so thrilled to be welcoming Whitney to our crew!

Whitney is a Maine native who relocated to North Carolina for a few years and is so happy to be back in her home state with her family -- and we are so happy to have her! Whitney will be seeing kiddos in our office here in Scarborough, as well as in local daycares, preschools, and in homes for our birth to three kiddos! Welcome, Whitney!

Thank you ASHA for taking a public stance and putting out the call (demand) for our Nation’s leaders to operate with basic human decency and respect for all when campaigning!

“It’s a point that bears emphasizing. In recent campaign appearances, former President Donald Trump has repeatedly mocked President Joe Biden’s stutter.

Such comments demonstrate a callous view of communication differences. They can also have deep and long-lasting effects on children and adults who communicate in different ways.

ASHA members work with people who stutter and know the impact bullying can have. Contemporary approaches to stuttering treatment emphasize the importance of speaking with confidence—rather than always speaking fluently. Communication partners are urged to focus on the content of a person’s speech, not the way it is said. However, this approach is undermined every time anyone—particularly people in powerful positions—mocks a person’s stutter. It also creates a permissive environment for bullying, as demonstrated by people who laugh at the mockery of stuttering.”

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is imploring our nation’s leaders to demonstrate basic decency and respect for people who stutter as campaigning for the general Presidential election begins.
