In episode 146 of Olivia returns as a third time guest to share her Home Birth story! ✨💙

Olivia’s third baby - a little boy - arrived in a swift, five hour labor that started during a regular work day and ended beside her cozy Christmas tree. ✨🎄

From her first birth which was a cesarean with a breech baby, to a quick VBAC in the hospital with her daughter at 36 weeks, and then finally the home birth she had been dreaming about for years.

Olivia prepared, researched, and built a support team that trusted her choices every step of the way - staying anchored in what made her feel safest and most respected.

And.. I had the incredible honor of witnessing and documenting Olivia’s birth as her fly on the wall birth photographer. 🥰

To hear the first parts of Olivia’s story check out episodes 16 and 67. And you can find this new episode, 146 - out now - wherever you normally listen to podcasts or right on my website MyMaineBirth.com

We often talk about birth as a deeply personal journey for the mothers, but what about the fathers? His experience is often overlooked.

Witnessing your wife go through an unplanned cesarean can be overwhelming, traumatic even - a moment of shock, helplessness, and intense emotion.

When a husband has an opportunity to witness a healing VBAC it can be a profound moment of connection, trust, and bonding - not only for the relationship, but also for the growing family.

You can hear Hannah share her full story in episode 145 of the Podcast - out now - wherever you normally listen to podcasts, or right on my website MyMaineBirth.com

Birth can be a journey full of twists, turns, and growth - and your power comes from trusting yourself and listening to your body every step of the way.

Leaning into support, education, and your own intuition are so important - especially when things don’t go as planned.

In Episode 145 of Hannah shares her three Maine Birth stories. We chat about the unexpected challenges, empowered choices made, and the strength she found in owning her experience.

Hannah’s first birth started with a multi-day induction that involved the whole cascade of interventions - ultimately leading to a cesarean.

After months of recovery and postpartum rage, Hannah began asking a lot of questions and then she started down the path of reclaiming her power.

When Hannah became pregnant again, she knew what she wanted - a VBAC friendly provider, a skilled doula, and a birth plan that centered her voice. ✨💗

I think there is real value in hearing a variety of different experiences.

So whether we share similar views or if you think you have completely opposite views on birth as I do, I would love to have a respectful conversation - all stories and perspectives are welcome here.

Despite the challenges and the corporatization of so many hospitals, there are still providers who truly care about their patients and their goals for their births. ✨💕

In episode 144 of we shine a light on one of those incredible caregivers - Dr. Claire Faggons - someone whose compassion and dedication remind us that support and kindness are still alive in healthcare.

Birth isn’t just about policies and protocols; it’s about connection, trust, and most importantly - respecting the woman at the center of it all. In systems that often feel disconnected - caring providers make ALL the difference.

In this episode, Ivy shares her three pregnancy and four birth stories - including her twin VBAC experience where baby B was born footling breech under the calm and professional guidance of Dr Faggons. Both babies were born happy and healthy and did not require any time in the NICU.

This story is a big deal because most women with twins who attempt to birth vaginally will be required *per policy* to switch to a cesarean after a vaginal birth of the first baby - if baby B is breech. This story shows that may not always be necessary.

One secret to a smoother and more empowering birth experience is called - laboring down - and it can make all the difference! ✨

When you reach 10 cm but aren’t quite ready to push, giving yourself the time and space to let your body work at its own pace allows for a more natural, relaxed transition into pushing.

This pause can shorten pushing time, reduce exhaustion, and increase the chances for a successful VBAC.

Shout out to the providers who recognize this! 💗

In episode 144, Ivy shares how honoring that natural delay, supporting her body’s cues, and giving that time and space to labor down helped her truly own her birth - and come out stronger on the other side.

If you’re planning for a VBAC, or just want to learn how trust and patience can transform your birth experience, this episode is for you.

Trust sits at the heart of Ivy’s story - trust in her body, trust in preparation that paid off, and trust in a provider that leads with calm skill.

In episode 144 of Ivy, an OB nurse and lactation consultant, walks us through her four birth experiences that challenge assumptions about risk and choice.

Her first pregnancy was marked by a diagnosis of cleft lip and palate at 20 weeks - which was scary at first, but she found support, connection, and a new sense of confidence. Despite ending in a cesarean, she learned to trust her caregiving instincts and turned fear into agency.

During her second pregnancy - determined to try again, on her own terms - Ivy switched practices mid-pregnancy to work with Dr Claire Faggons, a doctor known for balancing safety with support for each woman’s individual birth plans and lots of optimism. Ivy’s VBAC plan, the choices she made, and having a team that believed in physiologic birth - led to a beautiful, empowering birth - a truly healing experience.

And then with her third pregnancy, the twist: twins! An early ultrasound revealed two heartbeats and a new set of decisions.

Ivy’s story is a powerful reminder that trust, genuine support, and autonomy can remain even in more complex journeys.

Check out episode 144 of which is also the first episode of Season 4 - anywhere you normally listen to podcasts, or right on my website MyMaineBirth.com ✨💗

Happy new year friends!

2025 was definitely a year of shedding old layers and sifting through deception to reveal what’s really hiding beneath the surface.

This year my top downloaded episodes all exposed the truth about the FreeBirth Society Scam - peeling back the glossy marketing to show the real risks of approaching birth with dogmatic views, their hidden agendas, and the outright wrong information about birth that this company was sharing as absolute truth.

Separating the beautiful idea of freebirth which can be a perfectly good option for a family that chooses that - fully informed with correct information - versus the dogmatic ideology pushed by the company known as The FreeBirth Society was the underlying theme of all of these episodes.

And while these stories topped the downloads, I of course want to also celebrate all of the amazing Maine moms who shared their incredible birth stories this year - whether hospital, birth center, or home birth.

Each story is SO important to share, and adds richness and depth to our collective understanding of what birth can be.

Thank you to every mom who trusted me to witness and hold space for your journey - all of your different stories inspire, empower, and remind us all that how we birth truly matters. ✨💗

I already have lots of incredible episodes recorded for Season 4, which will be starting in just a couple weeks.

This year has been a wild ride of uncovering the truth, supporting women’s autonomy, and challenging the narratives we’re told.

Thank you for being part of this journey, I’m so grateful for all of you! ✨💗
