What is the difference between coaching and therapy? I'm glad you asked! As a mental health and business coach, I can help you understand the difference between coaching and therapy.
Generally, coaches like myself are professionals who work with clients individually and groups to help them identify and achieve their personal and professional goals. They are typically focused on the present and future, and their primary goal is to help their clients develop practical strategies and action plans to achieve their desired outcomes. Coaches may work with clients on a wide range of issues, such as career development, relationships, health and wellness, personal growth, growing and scaling their business and more!
Therapists, on the other hand, are trained mental health professionals who work with clients to address and treat psychological and emotional problems. They may use a variety of therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, or humanistic therapy, to help their clients manage symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health conditions. Therapists are also trained to help clients explore their past experiences and patterns of behavior that may be contributing to their current struggles.
In summary, while both coaching and therapy aim to help clients improve their lives, coaches focus more on setting and achieving goals, while therapists focus more on addressing and treating psychological and emotional issues.
