Vincenzo, arrived at 3:55 p.m. on January 1 and thanks to the quick actions of his care team, he got the lifesaving support he needed.

Milestone in local surgical care!

Olean General Hospital has successfully completed its first robotic-assisted surgery using the da Vinci Xi system. The procedure was performed by urologist Brian Dinerman, marking a major step forward in bringing advanced, minimally invasive care closer to home for patients across the region.

This first case—a kidney removal to treat cancer—was a success, with the patient reporting a smooth recovery and minimal pain. This technology strengthens rural healthcare access, supports surgeon recruitment and ensures patients don’t have to travel far for high-quality care.
