MCORE Foundation

MCORE Foundation Our mission is the education and prevention of sudden cardiac arrest in our youth. MCORE Foundation screenings provide EKG and Echo testing.

The MCORE Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the education, research and prevention of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) in our youth, regardless of their ability to pay. Our mission is to provide all families with the facts about, sudden cardiac arrest, relevant family history and what causes SCA to occur in younger populations. All screenings are all preformed by registered diagnosti

c cardiac sonographers from accredited institutions and local hospitals and read by pediatric cardiologists. Over the past 5 years, the MCORE Foundation has grown considerably. Since 2014 our services have expanded, and we now are providing screenings annually to over 5000 youth ages 12-22 in 7 states. Our programs continue to expand and currently include the following: hospital programs, partner foundation programs, school (middle school, high school and college) screening & training. The MCORE Foundation is a dedicated 501(c)3 organization that works with local communities in all these signature areas to raise awareness and funding for our screening, research and education programs. SCA is not a heart attack. Each year thousands of children, teens and young adults suffer SCA from an undetected heart condition, which can also be caused by a blunt blow to the chest. Each triggers a fatal heart rhythm—an electrical malfunction—that causes the heart to stop. The MCORE Foundation aims to prevent sudden cardiac arrest in our youth through education and by screening for undetected heart conditions that could lead to SCA. SCA is a leading medical cause of death under 25, the #1 killer of student athletes and the leading cause of death on school campuses. This is unacceptable.

Greg Holthaus was only 18 when sudden cardiac arrest struck. He seemed healthy, but a hidden heart issue caused tragedy.

A preventative cardiac screening would have detected Greg's heart abnormality, and would have created a much different outcome for him and his family.

Created in his honor, the Greg Holthaus Memorial Fund helps defray the donation toward youth preventative cardiac screenings. Register your child for the July 11 screening in Maryland Heights, MO at https://www.mcorefoundation.org/scheduler_schedule/event/122694/?20250701190455 (July 12 event is full).
