Swing bed transitional care at Olivia Hospital & Clinic is a great service for people who want to recover from an injury, illness or surgery in a hospital setting. This program offers a smooth transition for qualified patients who need care as they are able to transition from acute care with the goal of returning home.

Ask your care team at the hospital where you are having surgery (or recovering from a serious illness) if this would be an option for you. Or, you can call Olivia Hospital & Clinic discharge planners at 800-916-1836 for more information about swing bed services and insurance.

We are your home-area hospital and want you to feel free to utilize all the resources available to you for the best recovery.

Examples of conditions that can benefit from the swing bed program:
Recovery from major surgery, joint replacement, vascular or abdominal procedures
Extended hospitalization
Recovery from major accident or stroke
Pain management
Wounds which are not healing or need special care
Nutritional therapy
IV therapy
Rehabilitation therapy: physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy or respiratory

We are honored to recognize Josselyn, our newest DAISY Award recipient, for her extraordinary dedication and unwavering advocacy for a patient in need.

When a critically important medication was initially denied by insurance, Josselyn refused to give up. She coordinated multiple peer to peer reviews, stayed in constant communication with the care team, and persisted through repeated obstacles — all while the patient’s condition hung in the balance.

When approval finally came through, Josselyn went the extra mile — literally — traveling on a Saturday to pick up the medication and personally delivering it to ensure timely treatment. Because of her determination, the patient was able to remain safely at home with family.

As the provider shared:
“If Josselyn had not been so persistent, I don’t think the treatment would have happened.”

This is what exceptional patient advocacy looks like.

💙 Local tradition, local impact. 💙

We’re incredibly grateful for Greg Bunting, who turns time honored recipes into meaningful support for our community. Greg makes rosettes and krumkake, sells them throughout the community, and generously shares the proceeds with the Olivia Hospital & Clinic Foundation and other local nonprofit organizations.

Just this season, Greg poured countless hours — and a whole lot of ingredients — into his baking, including:
🥣 40 lbs of sugar
🌾 50 lbs of flour
🥚 28 dozen eggs
🛢️ 10 gallons of peanut oil
🥛 5 gallons of milk
🧈 12 lbs of butter

All of that dedication resulted in:
✨ 277 dozen rosettes
✨ 190 dozen krumkake

What may look like sweet treats is really something much bigger — generosity, connection, and a heartfelt commitment to giving back. Thank you, Greg, for sharing your craft, your time, and your heart with our community. 💛
