Today is World Pneumonia Day - a reminder that pneumonia can affect anyone, but it's most dangerous for the youngest and oldest among us.

🫁 Pneumonia is an infection of the lungs that can be caused by bacteria or viruses.
💉 Vaccination against other respiratory illnesses can help prevent it - vaccines for pneumococcus, Hib, pertussis, COVID-19, flu, measles, RSV, and varicella all help protect against pneumonia.
🤒 Stay home when you're sick to help stop the spread of germs that cause pneumonia and other respiratory illnesses.

Infant Formula Recall: see below ByHeart Formula

🚨 ByHeart formula recall!🚨

The FDA warns of cases of infant botulism linked to the consumption of ByHeart formula.

"The warning advises people not to use ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula with lot numbers 206VABP/251131P2 or 206VABP/251261P2, both with a use by date of Dec. 1, 2026. The numbers can be found on the bottom on the can."

"At least 13 infants have been hospitalized in 10 different states"

I also want to take the time to talk about proper formula preparation.
The water used to prepare powdered formula should be boiled and then allowed to cool for about five minutes before adding formula powder.
Always check the temp of your formula bottle before feeding it to your baby.

By heating the water, this helps kill any bacteria present. POWDERED FORMULA IS NOT STERILE. Babies born prematurely, with weakened immune systems and under 3 months of age.
