Marketing tells us these are "health foods," but the ingredient lists say otherwise.

A lot of the staples we've been grabbing for years, protein bars, oat milk, flavored yogurt, are ultra-processed. And when inflammation is already part of the picture, those ingredients matter more than most people realize.

The good news? You don't need a complicated overhaul. Focusing on whole, single-ingredient foods is one of the simplest things you can do to support your hormones and your gut.

Which of these is a regular in your pantry? Drop it below. 👇

These are the things I hear constantly from patients who've been confused, dismissed, or just never given the full picture about perimenopause and hormones.

You don't have to white-knuckle through your symptoms.

Your family history doesn't automatically close the door on HRT.

A normal lab result doesn't mean nothing's happening.

And no, you're not too young. If you're in your late 30s or 40s and something feels off, that's worth a real conversation.

Who you see for this actually matters. Most of this isn't covered in standard medical training.

If any of this sounds familiar, come talk to us. More in the comments. 👇

I am my own worst critic. And honestly? I know I'm not alone in that.
We give so much grace to the people we love. But when it comes to ourselves, we're harsh.
You deserve the same love you give others. Full stop.

What a morning! 🌞 Big thank you to everyone who came out for our monthly wellness walk. Dr. Kim Wadsworth dropped some seriously helpful stretching tips to keep plantar fasciitis away, shoutout to Braden and Jerome for setting up the egg hunt for the kiddos, and we all soaked up the sunshine together. This community is everything. See you next month! 🥚🚶

The American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association just updated their cholesterol guidelines for the first time since 2018, and there are a few things in here that most people don't know about.

One of the biggest updates is around a test called Lp(a). It checks for a genetic heart risk that won't show up on a standard cholesterol panel. Every adult should get it at least once, ideally in your 20s. And for some people, a coronary calcium scan can add another layer of clarity about what's actually happening in your arteries.

Most insurance plans don't routinely cover Lp(a) or ApoB. At NiuOla we've negotiated discounted lab pricing so our patients can get a full advanced cardiac panel at a significantly lower cost.

Save this and share it with someone who needs to see it.

If you've been doing everything right and still can't lose weight, chronic stress is worth looking at.

Long-term stress, partly through hormones like cortisol, disrupts blood sugar regulation, hunger signaling, sleep, and fat storage. These are real, measurable changes in how your body functions.

And none of them are a reflection of your effort or your willpower.

Something I want every woman in my community to hear:

Most women suffer through menopause because their doctors were never taught to treat it. That’s not a personal failure. That’s a gap in medical education.

If you’ve been dismissed, brushed off, or made to feel like you were overreacting, you weren’t. The brain fog, the sleep issues, the mood changes, the body that doesn’t feel like yours anymore, these are real and they’re treatable.

Certified menopause practitioners do the extra training to actually get this right. I’m one of them here in Olympia, WA.

If you’re not local, I’ve dropped a link in the comments to help you find a trained doctor near you by zip code. Share this with someone who needs it.

Most women don't find out until it's been happening for years.

Perimenopause can start in your late 30s. The symptoms are real. The treatment options exist. And you deserve a doctor who actually knows this stuff.

Swipe through for 5 things your doctor should already be telling you.

If you're in Washington state and want to talk about what's going on with your hormones, I see patients across WA for menopause care. Link in bio to book a visit.
