Beautiful, fragrant, glorious roses 🌹
The Queen of flowers! At the center of much magical lore and historical appreciation. Present at almost any important life event.

The rose appears in many colors and types. Some are just beautiful, others are fragrant and delicious in teas and cooking. The rose hip is also delicious and medicinal. The rose canes can be used in magical work. Rose water used in skin care. Rose salves and lotions and lotions are the ultimate luxury!

Come spend an entire afternoon learning about roses. The class includes a whole bunch of rose crafts, roses used in foods and treats, teas, liquor, lots of recipes for their use.

As well we will dive deeply into making rose beads. A time honored, nearly lost art, while we discuss lore, use in magic, history, and varieties of roses.

We will even talk about growing them and pruning them, harvesting and drying for crafts and foods

Some things are made slowly, with attention, with care, with a quiet reverence for what is living in the world around us.

At Radiance, we are making space for work that stays in relationship, to the earth, to the elements, to the presence within things often overlooked.

On April 24th and 25th, during Olympia ArtsWalk, from eleven in the morning into the evening, we will gather around slow craft, shared memory, and the understanding that what we make is never separate from the world it comes from.

Sherry Kirk of Sidhe Fire Arts comes with a body of work held under the theme Vessels for Magic and Healing. Her pieces are meant to be used, lived with, and returned to. In them, clay carries earth, water, air, and fire together, shaped into forms that hold warmth, nourishment, and intention. There is a kind of listening in her work, a recognition that these elements are not passive, but present, each with its own nature, each part of the whole. Since turning to the wheel in 2015 in her Rainier studio, her work has remained rooted in that awareness, creating objects that serve while honoring the forces that made them possible.

We will also be joined by Joseph S. Hopkins and Lauren E. Fountain of Hyldyr Publications, a press named for the elder tree, long understood as a keeper, a healer, a threshold. Their work moves through deep and often overlooked sources, drawing from traditions where language, land, and spirit were never separate. Together, they work across Germanic and Slavic traditions, folklore, runes, plant knowledge, and early language, bringing forward texts that carry the presence of those who came before. What they offer is not only study, but a way of remembering how to be in relationship with what surrounds us.

This is a gathering shaped by care, by continuity, and by a respect for the living world in all its forms.

If you come in, come with time.

There will be work made with intention, stories that have traveled far, and a space where the seen and unseen are held a little closer together.
