The words we choose makes a difference!

In this article, Frost writes about the term “SMOOSH” as being the magic word that helps her kids *smoosh* clothes into the dryer….

What words are playful and meaningful in your family?

In another life, I taught preteens and teens for 10 years, and learned one valuable lesson that carried over into parenting: silliness wins overall. Trying to get a kid to do a standardized test? Silliness. Trying to get a toddler to use the potty? Same thing. So through the course of parenting my f...

If you are one of the parents who have children in the midst of SUMMER VACATION, and look on your children and say, WHY are they doing this ? ...All day?

You're in good company.

Kids are motivated by fun, and play, and relationships with fun and play. But... often your fun doesn't match what your child thinks is fun. OR, what you think is a priority doesn't match what your child is doing.

Your child might offer you a gift, though. To see what you're doing with fresh, curious eyes. Maybe through your child's eyes, you can find the fun in what you're working on.

Can you see the possibilities for making games out of your daily chores?

As a parent of a 4-12 year old child, do you ever wonder,
• How can you tell when you're helping your child too much?
• Is there something you can do so your child tries to do more with less help?

I hear you, and I know. Just wondering about those things can be so stressful. There are so many places to begin. There are so many things to work on.

That’s why I like to break things down into smaller segments. Like, home routines.
• Home routines are the things you and your child do every day at home.
• They can be broad tasks, like “getting ready for school,” or
• Specific small tasks, like “feeding the dog,” or "brushing teeth.”
Working on home routines as they happen, is a way you can build your child’s skills, without taking swaths of time out of your day.

If you realize your child is struggling with doing home routines, and you would like more guidance, maybe I can help.

The online parent education course, called, the 7 Essentials of Home Routines is set to begin in a few days, October 15th!
This course provides learning material for parents of children ages 4-12 who struggle with home routines. During this course, you will learn how help your child do more with less help as you SHAPE a home routine for success, so you and your child can dream of more possibilities.

If this sounds interesting to you, you can check out my web page, and click on the link to download your FREE Shape Home Routines Checklist, or just investigate more details of the course.
Don’t forget, our course launches in 3 days, October 15th! So, if you want to catch this launch series, don’t delay!

After all, don't we grin when we hear a child exclaim, “I did it”?

The 7 Essentials of Home Routines is an Online Course for parents of children ages 4-12 who struggle with home routines.
