Our Profession Needs You!

Please take a moment to read this important letter from APTA Washington President Susanne Michaud. The U.S. Department of Education’s proposed definition change puts physical therapy’s doctoring status — and patient access and safety — at risk.

APTA has issued an Action Alert with an easy template to contact your Congressional representatives. Your voice matters. Please read, share, and take action.

APTA WA President Susanne Michaud attended APTA’s CommUNITY Week in DC.

The APTA Board of Directors, Leadership Scholars, and newly elected Chapter & Academy Presidents leaned into the new APTA Strategic Framework—embracing change with gusto and igniting hope, motivation, and momentum for the future of our profession.

Registration is now open for Legislative Impact Day 2026!
Join us Wednesday, January 21, 2026 in Olympia as we advocate for our profession, network with peers, and strengthen connections across the PT and PTA community. APTA Washington will schedule legislative appointments for all registered participants.

🗓 Deadline to register for appointments: December 19, 2025

Our 2026 Legislative Priorities

• Recognizing Physical Therapists as Attending Providers under Workers’ Compensation
• Requiring insurers to contract in good faith with physical therapists

It’s not easy to step away from the clinic, but your engagement makes a real difference. Please plan to spend the full day in Olympia, as schedules may shift.

Along with advocacy, LID is a great opportunity to network, share ideas, and connect with colleagues from across the state.

Bill language and briefing papers will be available soon.
Visit our Legislative Impact Day webpage for updates and event details.

Yesterday was a great day for LWIT students who had the opportinity to meet with legislators. They had some time in each of their two lab spaces (inpatient and outpatient) and then a good 30 min of time in the lab to ask questions and talk with the legislators. They shared their backgrounds, students shared why they chose PTA and specifically LWTech, they asked about employment rates (great!) and more. Thank you for all the advocacy efforts!

Join us tomorrow, November 11, 2025 at 7pm for the Legislative Impact Day Briefing where we will be discussing the legislative agenda and our advocacy efforts. Our priorities this year benefit our profession and the patients we serve. We're pushing back on flat insurance payments, expanding codes and billing amounts, working at the top of our license, and ultimately positioning ourselves to work as primary care neuro/musculoskeletal providers.
