Vision:
"Voice and Choice, Enriching Ourselves and Our Communities"
Values:
• Respect: We are all whole human beings who are due respect. Showing respect means we speak gently to others, supporting what’s going well rather than criticizing what’s not working. We respect ourselves, each other, and the CRC community and building, recognizing the value in each of us. Each of us has values, skills, talents, opinions, and potential, and all are worthy of respect no matter where they are on the recovery journey.
• Honesty: Honesty is the foundation of peer support. It is necessary for growth and success to be honest about our triumphs and our challenges, both with ourselves and each other. While we are never required to tell everything, when we do speak, we tell the truth.
• Compassion: As a community of people in recovery, we demonstrate compassion for each other. We create a place where each of us can belong and where all can be safe. We form an inclusive, nonjudgmental community that accepts everyone who gives and seeks support here.
• Integrity: We demonstrate integrity by living and behaving in a way that is consistent with our values. We strive to do what we say we will do. We honor the values and beliefs of others and we support all in acting with integrity. We don’t keep secrets to shield unethical or illegal behavior by members of the CRC community.
• Community: CRC is a strong, caring and supportive community where we feel that we belong. Because of our unity in support of each other, we strive to honor confidentiality. We engage our empathy when we encounter another member of the community who seeks support. A community is a safe place for each person to be listened to and feel heard.
• Transparency: CRC practices transparency by sharing information to the fullest extent possible. We inform staff and participants about upcoming changes, both hopeful and difficult, and we encourage and support staff and participants through changes. When we practice transparency, we also show our authentic selves instead of acting out a role or putting on a mask.
• Openness: We are always open to supporting and learning from each other—participants, staff, and Board members. We recognize that we all have experience to share. We demonstrate that openness by accepting others inclusively, making connections with empathy and gentleness.
• Responsibility: All members of the CRC community is accountable for their own recovery and their behavior and choices. We are responsible for honoring each other’s individuality and for supporting the development of a safe space. We are responsible for fostering hope, recognizing growth, and for the ongoing development of the compassionate community that is CRC. We take accountability for supporting each other through difficult times.
• Unconditional love: The Capital Recovery Center community allows us to be present and to demonstrate unconditional love for all who need help. This foundation of unconditional high regard provides the freedom for each person to be an individual and to become their best selves, growing in their recovery. Slogan:
