Adult Family Home in Olympia Wa Arrangements are now being made for our first residents to join this new home. We are also accepting names for our waitlist.

We at the John Charles Home are proud to announce that we are completing the final touches within the home in preparation for accepting residents. The John Charles Home is located in the Holiday Hills neighborhood of Southeast Olympia (near Olympia High School) and is owned and operated by two Olympia families, Jamee and Dennese Mahoney and Grace and Scott Naegle. It has been a family goal to open

an adult family home for many years now. As a career firefighter, Jamee has seen all types of care facilities. His first-hand experience acts as a testimony of how the necessary and personalized care from an adult family home can impact its residents’ quality of life. The desire to provide this resource in our community was cemented while the health of Dennese and Scott’s during the declining months of Dennese and Scott’s father’s health. We all experienced first-hand the challenges associated with finding adequate and appropriate elder care for a loved one. After his passing, we wanted to honor our Dad’s legacy, and John Charles Home was born. The John Charles home has four bedrooms; two shared and two private. Significant modifications have been made to the home to make it accessible for all abilities. This includes extra-wide doors and hallway, and a sidewalk leading to the front door. The exquisitely tiled bathrooms include a zero-entry shower, roll-up sinks, and heated floors. A large back patio and fully fenced backyard are perfect for visiting family (when visitation normalizes again) and gardening. We offer a wide variety of activities which we look forward to customizing according to our residents’ desires and capabilities. It is our mission to provide luxury care and service in an environment as comfortable and warm as one’s own home. At John Charles Home, we are often reminded how lucky we are to do what we do. It’s a gift to know someone whose presence makes ordinary days brighter, and we are truly honored and blessed to share time with this sweet lady. She greets with kindness, a smile, or a silly comment, and never lets a moment pass without saying “thank you.”
We don’t know how we got so lucky, but we’ll take it!

JCH had some special guests tour our home in November. DSHS hosted a group of dignitaries from Singapore’s Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) who traveled to Washington state to learn about our long term care services. Washington state ranks #2 in the nation by AARP, for long term care services and support. We were honored to be one of a handful of facilities asked to tour the AIC and ALTSA representatives through our home. We here at JCH are big fans of the adult family home care setting, and were excited to share our experience, knowledge, and what makes an adult family home so special! We took special care to make sure our residents maintained their peaceful environment and privacy, while also sharing the special features of our home with the visitors.
A special thanks to our wonderful staff, who facilitated preparations and care to ensure we could accomplish a tour of this size with minimal impact to our daily routine.
