We had so much fun at our community root harvest day that we decided to open it up again for community to join us to assemble our WINTER WELLNESS KITS. Every year we make hundreds of kits to distribute to our communities, as a way to care for each other during the cold and flu season. The kits are full of immune boosting remedies, as well as hand made “Get well soon” cards and lots of love and prayers. This year we will make an elderberry syrup, cough honey, sinus steam, a chest rub and our infection fighting lung tonic “Restore your ROAR!”
The kits will be distributed directly to community, centering our unhoused relatives through Tahoma Indian Center; as well as individually stocking up our community organizers, caregivers and matriarches to support the ways they hold community and get the medicine where it needs to go! Hands up to everyone who has helped with this project in past years, and we look forward to gathering with you again!
Join us on MLK day, Monday January 19 from 11-3pm in the greenhouse at Wild Hearts Farm (address on Flyer) to mix, pour, label, decorate and package these medicines.
Feel free to bring family and loved ones, there will be projects for all ages and abilities, as well as special card making art projects for kids. We will serve a main dish at around 1pm, but please bring an additional potluck item. WE will be in a heated greenhouse, but please bring layers as the temperature fluctuates.
RSVP to via text to (361) 283-6499 so we can get a head count for lunch!
