Thank you to everyone who came out to the picnic today, to Michelle and Megan for being on-call and taking care of the midwifery work of the day, and Jay for always serving up burgers and dogs for everyone. It was a great day with lots of babies and smiles. Seeing families come together and support each other is the best!

Thank you to everyone who supported the legislative efforts this year. I am happy to share the birth center bill passed and was signed by the governor this week!

Congratulations, Washington birth centers on the passing of HB1824!

As a refresher, members of AABC's Washington Association of Birth Centers showed up and provided testimony in support of this bill at the Washington House Health Care & Wellness Committee this Valentine's Day. It has now been signed into law by Governor Bob Ferguson!

This bill allows CABC Accreditation to substitute for DOH inspections, which streamlines the inspection process and supports the sustainability of birth centers! Woo hoo!

We are so proud of our WABC members for all of their hard work.

Have you met the latest addition to our team? Paige Murphy, LM, CPM joins us from Canada to complete our team of fabulous midwives. Megan Felling is also here for a bit while Anneliese enjoys her babymoon. Lyndsay and Carolee are so happy to have a full team as we support our community and student midwives, Anne and Simone. The birth house is bursting with great care providers!! Today we gathered with our Birth Assistant team to review emergency skills, procedures, and resources. Last night we sent .bell off in style as she takes a new position with the Health Care Authority where she will champion the new doula license/reimbursement program for our state. She is going on to do great things for our community and we are so proud of her. Join us in wishing her the best. ❤️

Join us in July for our next Parent Circle at The Birth House. Everyone, including your baby, is welcome to attend. Bring your experience, bring your questions as we dive into the fabulous topic of the first 24 hours with your newborn. Birth workers and lactation consultants are welcomed as well.
