Prayers for our brothers and sisters of Mammoth Mountain 🦣

February 14, 2025 - 2PM:

At approximately 11:30am today, two Mammoth Mountain Ski Patrol staff were caught in an avalanche on Lincoln Mountain. The slide occurred during avalanche mitigation work, following a significant Sierra snow storm, where approximately 6 feet of snow fell in the last 36 hours.

One individual has been extracted from the scene and is responsive, the other patroller was transported to Mammoth Hospital with serious injuries.

The area was closed to the public at the time of the incident.

The entire mountain and lift operations were closed at 12:00pm for the day.

A very happy birthday to the one and only Erik Knudson!! 🥳

While some of our favorite furry friends get to lounge about the house and enjoy leisurely walks with their humans, Palisades Tahoe patrol dogs are working and training to be ready at a moment's notice for a search and rescue on the snowy mountain peaks.

🚨 OPERATIONS UPDATE🚨 Tomorrow, Sunday, March 3rd, we plan to re-open and we will be aiming for a delayed opening time of 10:30am. Our teams have been playing catchup the past two days, but there is still a lot of work to do. We will be digging out for the foreseeable future. We are still in the biggest storm of the season, so we ask for your patience while we do our very best.

If you read our snow report today, you probably noticed that the snow numbers seemed low. We only reported 14 inches at 5am. In reality, we have received a lot more snow than this, but intense winds have scoured our plots (Winds on Siberia got over 190mph last night). This also means that there are very, very deep wind drifts across both mountains.

WHAT TO EXPECT TOMORROW:
- At Alpine, we will aim to have Roundhouse, Treeline Cirque, Meadow, and Subway tomorrow. We may be able to add more chairs, such as Summit and Scott, but we will be very slow to do so.
- At Palisades, we will be targeting the lower mountain lifts of Resort Chair, First Ventures, Far East, Red Dog, and KT-22 to start. Please note that KT-22 is usually a bit more delayed than the other lifts listed here.
- We are going to attempt the Palisades upper mountain tomorrow, but it is all dependent on whether or not we can get the Funitel. Tower 4 has low clearance and needs to be dug out by a winch cat.

PLEASE head to our Operations Blog to read more about regional impacts, the weather outlook, and to see more behind-the-scenes footage from Ski Patrol, Lift Maintenance, and Grooming: https://blog.palisadestahoe.com/operations/operations-update-aiming-for-1030am-opening-tomorrow/
