🐾 Meet Navy! 🐾
Navy is a 5-year-old Golden Retriever who began experiencing mobility issues last year and underwent a left TPLO on 7/18/24. Earlier this year, his family noticed he began limping on his right hind limb in February. They suspected he may have tweaked something while playing in the backyard and brought him to his primary vet, who recommended medical management at that time. Navy’s symptoms improved after about six weeks, but by mid-March, he began showing intermittent lameness on his left hind limb again.
After several rechecks with his primary vet, including radiographs on June 9, 2025, findings revealed right stifle effusion and mild osteoarthrosis consistent with cranial cruciate disease (partial or complete tear). Fortunately, his left TPLO site showed no complications, with only mild progression of osteoarthrosis noted.
Navy has now come to physical therapy with the goal of becoming pain-free and returning to playing and running around like his happy, active self! πŸ’›πŸΆ

🐾 Therapeutic Exercise Spotlight: Hind Limb Leg Lifts 🐾
Did you know hind limb leg lifts are a simple but powerful exercise in canine rehab? ✨ This movement helps strengthen the hip and stifle stabilizers while also engaging the core muscles.
✨ Benefits of hind limb leg lifts:
βœ”οΈ Strengthens muscles that support the hips and knees
βœ”οΈ Improves balance and body awareness (proprioception)
βœ”οΈ Builds core stability, which protects the spine and joints
βœ”οΈ Enhances mobility and coordination for smoother movement
βœ”οΈ Supports recovery after injury or surgery and helps manage arthritis
By adding this exercise into a therapy program, dogs can move with greater confidence, reduce risk of re-injury, and enjoy a better quality of life. πŸ’ͺ🐢

🌸 Meet Cocoa 🌸
Cocoa is a sweet 12-year-old mixed breed who was referred to physical therapy by Premier Pet Hospital. Back in May, Cocoa suddenly began having trouble with her back legsβ€”one day she was walking fine, and the next she was struggling. By late June, things became more concerning when both of her back legs stopped working, though thankfully she regained movement by the next morning. After an evaluation with her Vet she is suspected to have IVDD.
Cocoa’s goal with PT is to rebuild as much mobility as possible so she can continue enjoying life and improve her overall quality of life. πŸ’•πŸΎ

πŸ’œ Meet Annie! πŸ’œ
Annie is a sweet 8-year-old mixed breed who was referred to canine PT by Sirius Veterinary Orthopedic Center after showing lameness in both hind legs, with her left side being more affected. She has had intermittent episodes of lameness for the past 2 years, stemming from a CCL tear she sustained in 2022 while jumping out of an UTV.
Her most recent episode started in mid-June after a play session with some big dogs at her family’s home, when she was unable to get up off the floor. Annie was diagnosed with bilateral CCL tears and recommended for surgical stabilization. On 6/24/25, she underwent a left TPLO surgery, with plans to wait on surgery for the right side.
Now Annie is working hard in PT to build strength, improve mobility, and reach her big goal β€” fully recovering so she can enjoy long walks and playing ball again! 🐾πŸ’ͺ🎾
Let’s cheer Annie on as she makes her way back to her favorite activities!

🐾 Meet Rufus! 🐾
Rufus is an energetic 6-year-old Black Lab who was referred to canine PT by Sirius Vet Orthopedic Center after struggling with continual limping that began this spring and gradually worsened. After a full orthopedic workup and arthroscopy on 8/18/25, Rufus was diagnosed with:
Bicep tendon injuries (R > L, this was found to be normal during surgery)
Partial medial glenohumeral ligament injuries in both shoulders
Left fragmented coronoid process (removed via arthroscopy, right side WNL)
Minimal osteoarthritis in his shoulders, elbows, and carpal joints
Now that surgery is behind him, Rufus is diving into his PT journey with one big goal β€” to get strong, mobile, and back to doing what he loves most: hunting with his owner! πŸ’ͺπŸ•πŸ’™
Let’s all root for Rufus as he works hard to get back out in the field!

πŸ’– Meet Lucy! πŸ’–
Lucy is a sweet 10-year-old pup who was referred to canine PT by Premier Pet Hospital after a right CCL rupture. Her injury originally occurred in March of 2023 and seemed to heal, but after a fall on the ice this past March, she reinjured her knee. Instead of surgery, Lucy and her family chose to pursue PT with the goal of getting her back to standing strong and moving better on both back legs.
During her initial PT evaluation, Lucy was also found to have some laxity in her left stifle. She was referred back to her vet for further evaluation and cleared to continue her rehab journey. Now, Lucy is working hard to regain stability and strength in both knees β€” and we’re cheering her on every step of the way! 🐾πŸ’ͺπŸ’œ

Mac’s biggest goal? To get back to using his left back leg so he can enjoy long walks with his family and play in the yard like the happy, active pup he is! πŸ’™πŸΎ
Let’s all cheer Mac on as he works toward his goals β€” you’ve got this, buddy! πŸŽ‰πŸ’ͺ🐢

Finley is an 8-year-old Shih Tzu who began limping back in mid-April. After some testing, it was discovered that he had sustained bilateral CCL tears along with a right medial patellar luxation (MPL). πŸ’”
On 6/17/25, Finley underwent surgery to repair both stifles with Sirius Vet Orthopedic Center and has since started his physical therapy journey with us. His goal? To regain strength and return to his full prior level of function so he can get back to living his best life. 🐾πŸ’ͺ✨

🐾 Meet Ayda! 🐾
Ayda is a beautiful 4-year-old Great Pyrenees who was referred to physical therapy by Elkhorn South Veterinary Clinic after her owner began noticing signs of pain and limping about a year ago. πŸ’”πŸ•
Initially suspected to have an ACL injury and hip dysplasia, Ayda was evaluated here and referred for further testing. She was then seen by Dr. Marriott at Skyline Veterinary Clinic, who determined that her mobility issues were primarily due to hip dysplasia and recommended continuing physical therapy. πŸ’ͺ✨
Ayda is now on her rehab journey with the goal of returning to longer walks, hikes, and even running alongside her owner again. With her gentle spirit and determination, we’re confident she’ll get there one paw at a time! 🐢❀️
Let’s give Ayda all the encouragement as she works hard to get back to doing what she loves most!
