Colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable cancers when caught early, yet so many adults delay screening because the traditional options feel overwhelming.

That’s why we’re hosting a dedicated screening morning at Aksarben Village Senior Living Thursday, March 26 from 8:30 AM–1:30 PM. We’ll have a licensed phlebotomist onsite offering the Shield™ blood test, a screening option for adults 45+ who are at average risk.

Shield™ is developed by Guardant Health and is FDA-approved for colorectal cancer screening in average-risk individuals. It works by analyzing cell-free DNA in the blood to look for signs associated with colorectal cancer.

Insurance details:
• Covered by Medicare
• Covered by TRICARE
• Billed to all commercial insurance plans (coverage varies by plan)

Did you know that about 80% of the world’s population of Sandhill Crane stops along Nebraska’s Platte River each spring during migration? Nearly one million cranes gather near Kearney, creating one of the greatest wildlife spectacles in North America.

This week our residents took a day trip to Kearney to witness this incredible migration in person. Watching the cranes fill the sky and hearing their distinctive calls was truly unforgettable. Nature gave us quite the show, and it was the perfect way to spend a beautiful day together!

Some reunions come full circle in the sweetest way 💚 In honor of national Girl Scout week…

Our resident recently reconnected with someone very special—our very own Lifestyles Assistant, Paige! Over 15 years ago, Jean was Paige’s Girl Scout troop leader during her Brownies and Juniors years. Paige’s mom also served as Jean’s troop assistant, so they spent many school nights and campouts together earning badges and making lifelong memories.

Paige still remembers cooking eggs in a bag over a campfire and hearing Jean’s beautiful voice leading the girls in singing “Make New Friends.” Those are memories that truly stick with you.

The last time Paige had seen Jean was when she was in 6th grade—about 16 years ago! With Jean’s guidance and encouragement, Paige even made it into the 500 Club for selling 500 boxes of Girl Scout cookies 🍪

It’s amazing how the impact of a great leader can last a lifetime. Seeing them reconnect here at our community is such a special reminder that the friendships and lessons we build when we’re young can come full circle in the most meaningful ways.
