☺️ Many people ask me (especially since practicing Acupuncture in Omaha), "What is "dry needling?"", "Do you "do" "dry needling"?
🙏First of all, great questions. It's extremely confusing for even me. Moving from Colorado to Omaha, I was shocked @ the many Chiropractic Clinics, PT Clinics, etc., that have the words "Acupuncture" on the outside of their building. That is like me having "Chiropractic or "Physical Therapy" tied to my name.
🤯To practice "Dry Needling", it takes a weekend course. That is it. In many states, NE obviously far behind, it is illegal for anyone else besides a Licensed Acupuncturist to practice Acupuncture (AKA Dry Needling, well kind of). I was required to get a Master's Degree.
👀In one year alone, there were multiple cases of malpractice regarding needles puncturing the lungs, causing a very serious issue, called Pneumo Thorax. EVERY single one of those cases were practitioners licensed in something other than Acupuncture, practicing "dry needling", acquiring a certificate over a weekend course.
Please do your research before you get treatment with Acupuncture (or as others have made up, "dry needling".
What is dry needling? It’s similar to acupuncture in that it uses needles to address pain points in the body. But that’s where the similarities end. Let’s take a look at important differences—and a word of caution.
